Traditional Japanese Color Palette: beautiful handbook with color names only English-language aspect of book
"Traditional Color Palette of Japan" (Nihon no Haishoku) provides beautiful photographs of Japanese art--ranging from Buddhist art to ceramics, textiles, woodblock prints, paintings, lacquerware, and military clothing--that are teamed with the identification of the specific colors illustrated by each piece. The names of each shade highlighted in this main section of the book has its English-language equivalent. An appendix to the book, arranged chromatically, identifies and numbers all of the 250 colors seen throughout the volume and provides another numbered annex with their English-language translations. This is, however, the only material in English, and a Japanese-language capability is needed to read the texts identifying and describing the objects photographed.

Beautiful, excellent for intermediate and advanced Japanese speakers/learners
If you love design, Japanese and definitely both this is perfect. The Japanese is quite advanced, but in very short snippets so perfect for daily reading practise.

Arrived damaged
The book itself is wonderful, jam-packed with everything one ever wanted to know about Japan and colours. An absolute gem of a book for anyone who is interested in this subject.Less happy for me was the way Amazon shipped the book, casually tossed into a larger box which ended up ripping up the dust cover. As seen on the images.Still giving it five stars, but I can recommend buying this book as its own order so that Amazon doesn't destroy it during shipment in a bundle.
