great product
The media could not be loaded. I use this bar with my sliding window. Its metal feels sturdy, but lightweight. Length is easily adjustable. Great product. Easy to install and remove from my patio door too. I feel safer when at home, or when I am away. It certainly does prevent the door from being opened. I will definitely buy again. Recommended!!!

Easy to adjust, strong, well-made security bar
Our new home has a sliding glass door. I bought a spring-loaded security bar that lasted about four days before the spring got too compressed and no longer would span the width of the door. This is an entirely different design and has a locking peg that you can adjust to keep the pole at the desired length. It fits snugly in the channel of our slider and that door is not opening! But, it is quite easy to remove (and put back). We have only had this one a few days but already it seems so much sturdier than its predecessor.

Re-purposed
The package arrived in a simple package with the bar and only a very small piece of instructions. Visibly the bar looked like an extendable, metal pressure curtain rod. Reading the small instructions, it mentions nothing at all about barring a sliding door and only discussing mounting to a window and hanging clothes on it. It seems fairly obvious this is a curtain rod re-purposed to security bar for a sliding door. If it works, great.I tried to test it on my sliding door and it wouldn't fit. Both ends are too big to fit in the sliding tray and putting pressure on the raised edges would end up damaging the door tray/frame over time.As for the bar itself, it's fairly sturdy and seems like it would be able to bar a door effectively if it were able to fit.
