Great Film

A good story line well worth watching.

I first saw this as a rental on reccomendation. As I hadn't heard of this movie before, I thought it'll be just another one of those low budget shoot'em, chase'em films with totally unbelievable characters and frankly stupid special effects.Before I watched the actual movie I had a quick look at the 'special features', and it looked like this might not be so bad after all. So I watched the movie and absolutely enjoyed every moment, so much so that I ordered a copy as soon as it became available as sell thru. True it's not without some flaws. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the Danny Glover character (Col Issac Johnson) is cringe worthy, quite a pity really as he's otherwise a good actor. Attention to detail and weapons drill is excellent, though I echo the implausible head shot at 200 yards from a moving platform, with a bog standard .22 hunting rifle!. Watch out for the exaggerated but brilliant sonic shock wave effect when Mark Whalberg test fires his old Cheyenne Tac M200 at a tin can, it's a fierce looking piece of kit. There's also an envy educing scene where he's firing an assault weapon from the left shoulder!!, (Readers in Ireland will know what I mean here). Fans of all things 'Southern' will love the old gunsmith character in Tennessee!. All in all it's an enjoyable little shoot-fest and I can without doubt reccomend you get a copy.p.s. If they killed my dog, I'd want to seek a terrible revenge too!

I love this film, it has everything you could want. Mark Whalburg has always been one of my fav. actors. This movie is about an Army snipper who is sent in on a peace keeping mission to prevent anything or anyone from preventing the signing of the peace agreement. His partner also spotter / best friend is killed and they are abandoned by the U.S. Military for being somewhere the Military is not supposed to be, to make their own way home. He leaves the military and 3 years later is approached by an governmental agency (Danny Glover) to design a plan to kill the president and told there is a sniper out to kill the president, his job (Mark Whalburgs) is to tell them how he would do it so they can prevent it. An attempt is made and a high ranking dingnatary from Africa is killed (who was in fact the target). He (Mark Whalburg) is then shot by a (bad) cop and framed for the murder. It becomes a great cat and mouse hunt as Mark Whalburg is hunted by the U.S. FBI as well as Danny Glover and Mark Whalburg begins hunting Danny Glover and all those involved in the Dignataries killing. It is a fantastic movie full of edge of the seat thrills, comedy and breath holding suspense. Mark Whalburg is a woman's thrill and a man's man. What else could you want?

At long last an action film to compete with the Bourne series. I loved this film and was willing to ignore some of its shortcomings in terms of plot and technical details. It was pure entertainment from the off and I was never bored. The action sequences are well filmed and realistic in that they don't go overboard but still give you the 'wow' factor.The film does not shy away from producing a body count and could be criticised for glorifying violence. But then if violence is not your cup of tea then you are really watching the wrong film here folks. If on the otherhand you sometimes get in the mood to shout 'BOOM... HEAD SHOT!!' and clap when people get battered with any blunt instrument the hero can lay his hands on, then this film is for you.I absolutely love films featuring snipers, so I may be being a little biased here, but this is going onto my wish list, if I don't just buy it now...

Had to return the first one.Disc was defective, picture froze at chapter 10.Second one is fine.This is one of Mark Wahlberg's best movies.
