A Little Quirky
I bought this to solve a constant problem of mine: not having a pencil and highlighter with me while reading. Overall, this is an OK solution, with a few quirks. The Pros:* Works as advertised.* Keeps my pencil and highlighter close by.The Cons:* Elastic is strong, so with paperbacks you have to keep it wrapped around 20-25 pages at the front or back.* Pens don't slide in and out very easily - perhaps a pen with a looser cap would work well.* Makes reading a little bit less comfortable.I will probably keep using it on occasion, but it's not the every-day, irreplaceable utility I was hoping for.

1st defective, rcv'd replacement and then that one went defective
So as the headline states, the 1st one was defective, the band is stitched top and bottom along to create the loop where the phone slides in. On both, the original AND the replacement on the top stitching on both.

Simple but genius idea
The product is simple enough - basically a strip of elastic cloth sown together with two loops and a ribbon attached. The problem is solves though, is one I've been struggling with for some time - how to carry around a Moleskin, and a pen to write in it with, without losing one or the other.Took my longer to remove from the packaging than install, and it works flawlessly. The ribbon is a bit useless for me, since I just use the included page marker with Moleskines, but it was a nice touch regardless. Seems well constructed, and that it could fit a variety of size notebooks. I would advice to avoid using it with a soft cover, as it dos seem like it could bend it, but no issue at all with the hard.

First one fell apart and so did the second.
Stitching came apart in the same spot on both wraps. I used it on an iPad mini and the seam on the top where the red bookmark is attached tore apart. The stitching and overlay on the bottom part was much more robust. The only thing holding it together on one end is the stitching, so the stitching would fray and eventually one thread would tear, gradually working it's way to the next thread. Great idea, but poor execution on the stitching. I wish the fabric wrapped around so the seam would sit flat rather than have the threads sit on the edge of the cover.

After receiving this pen holder I couldn't be happier.
I journal a LOT, so I love to keep my pens with my journals. For a while I was using a pen with a thin metal clip that would slide down the spine of the journal - but that damaged the spine over time and the next journal I got didn't have as much "give" as the old journal I was using. So I bought a Leuchtturm pen loop - it's an adhesive pen loop that attaches to the inside cover of the book. I was very happy with it, though it was a bit tight on any pen I put through the loop. Until I tried to slide a slightly larger new pen through it and it completely ripped out of the book. Not so durable. After receiving THIS pen holder I couldn't be happier. The loops are snug on every pen I want to carry without being overly tight, the elastic band over my cover isn't intrusive at all, there's no adhesive to deal with and it seems to be built to last. The best part? I don't have to buy a pen loop for every new journal any more. This one will simply slide off of the cover of a full journal and right onto the cover of a new one. Not only is it a great pen holder, it's going to save me money in the long run. I can't say for sure, but I believe this thing will last for years.

Good for hadcovers only
This is a neat little device, but the elastic is too strong to use with paperbacks without bending the cover. They should mention that in the description or title.

Works fine
Works fine for my iPad case. I needed a way to carry a stylus with me and this does the trick for a reasonable price. It's a little hard to get the stylus into the elastic loop, but on the other hand that means it is held securely. I got a jot pro stylus which has a magnet that makes it cling to the iPad, so for setting the stylus down for a moment, I don't need to slide it into the elastic loop. So this stylus holder works for me but might not not work well for everyone.
