Cool book but...
Having bought most of the other 'discovering...' books in the series I decided to give this one a go.I'd certainly recommended this book for intermediate players to grab exercises from. The pentatonic stuff was cool & the odd funk riff kept me entertained. The 2 main problems for me was that I felt I'd been a little miss sold by the book blurb. This book won't teach you to play like Alicia Keys or bash out a Bruce Hornsby solo. That leads to problem #2. There aren't any artist transcriptions in the book. They're 'in the style of pieces' which I felt was a great shame. It means you have to put an hour or two into learning a piece that no-one will recognise.Being a piano teacher I've had a lot of fun with 'discovering blues' & 'Exploring Jazz Piano' both for personal pleasure & teaching purposes. Playing a recognisable piece I believe is a great incentive to put the work in.So... It's a cool book but the Blues & Jazz books in the series blow this one away.Hope this helps somebody.

keep me busy
I love the songs and the Cd's. Not too hard but not too easy. Just the right level.
