Great Whiskey Glass With a Nice Nose Even With High Proof!
We bought these after doing a lot of research as to finding the right whiskey glass to fit our needs. We wanted something that would allow a higher proof whiskey to breath but regardless of where it was bottled allow us to nose the profile. This glass allows us to get more than ethanol on nosing a high proof profile. Lower proofs work well in this too. This glass fits a ball of ice from either the Samsung fridge or from the included ice molds if you like it āon the rocksā. The air between the whiskey vessel and where you hold it creates an insulation that will prevent your hand from heating the whiskey too quickly. There is a line from where this is made, possibly using a mold, but it is glass. The dishes are solid glass and yes they will break. I dropped one in the sink and was sad that it broke.

Same aroma / flavor enhancement as Norlan glass but at a better price and better customer service!
My friend, Jim, and I tested the James Bentley glass against both Norlan and Glencairn glasses using three different scotches - a MacDuff 33, an Ardbeg 22, and The Gov'nor 38 blend. The JB glass is slightly shorter and rounder and the borosilicate appears to be thicker than the Norlan. Hopefully that also means it's more durable as Norlan cracks and breaks easily. The JB's curved exterior grooves also fit nicely in your hand. JB has three thicker fins or ridges in the bottom of the glass compared to Norlan's four smaller fins. The ability to enhance smell and taste by reducing the ethanol "burn" is almost exactly the same; any difference is largely imperceptible. They both outperformed the Glencairn in that regard. Although the two molds to make round ice cubes that fit the glass are a nice addition to the set, I prefer my scotch neat but will use them with other drinks just because they are interesting and fun - Moscow Mules anyone? I know Jim will definitely use them with his bourbons. I did notice that the seams on the JB glass weren't quite as "clean" as on the Norlan but since they're both hand-blown that may have been particular to the pair I received. A minor point in my opinion, anyway. I read over 100 reviews before purchasing and the thing that impressed me the most was the wonderful customer service whenever anyone experienced a problem. Being an artisanal product, every glass is not going to come out exactly the same - which is part of its charm. Regardless of the complaint, James Bentley responded quickly and comprehensively in every situation. I've emailed Norlan a few questions over the years and never received an answer. I highly recommend these glasses for the discerning whisky drinker. The clear winner: James Bentley! Keep up the great work, guys! I just ordered four more sets to share with friends. I drink, and I know things!UPDATE - Sep. 23, 2020: Over one year later and not a single glass out of the dozen I bought for myself and friends has cracked or broken. Almost half of my Norlan glasses either cracked or shattered within the first six months.

I prefer these to my Norlanās.
Iāve bought these several times. I bought several sets with the latest BOGO deal and the new ones are noticeably smaller with a different, less squared bottom. At first I was disappointed but then I realized that the capacity is exactly the same in the new onesā¦. Itās just the double wall layer is thinner making the glass appear smaller overall. The most recent ones, being smaller, are easier to hold as well. Iām a small girl with small hands and can appreciate this.I have Norlans as well so Iāll try to describe the similarities/differences. I prefer these.-Like the Norlans, these are made of lightweight borosilicate. Itās extremely fragile and lightweight.-These are easier to hold. Iāve dropped a Norlan the day after receiving it. Yes, Norlans are warrantied if you drop them but itās $20 shipping per glass. They are very easy to drop being smooth and relatively straight on the outside. These have a curved exterior that fit your fingers naturally (even after a pour or 3 of neat Eagle Rare).-These feel slightly heavier than the Norlan. At first the light weight feel was a little off putting. It felt cheap. These feel a little less so than the Norlan.-The lip of my Norlans have noticeable tiny bumps and irregularities. You canāt really see them but my lips and tongue find every little bump which is distracting and annoying.-The drinking experience, nose and taste is identical to Norlan.-Both the Norlan as well as these have a visible seamā¦. No big deal. And while we are comparing whiskey glassesā¦. for gods sakeā¦. I canāt imagine how anyone could enjoy anything out of a Glencairn!?!? I like to sip slowly while nosing at the same timeā¦. Who on earth could get their nose in a glencairn while sipping!??? Also, they have a huge way of screaming out āraunchy elderly woman with a deep voice and a cigaretteāā¦. Maybe itās some reference to a movie or from my childhood that I canāt recallā¦. Not sure. But I am sure that they are annoying to drink from and add nothing positive to the experience. Iāll end with that.., these arenāt anything like a glencairn and thatās a great thing!!
