Amazing taste
We got the ceremonial grade and the culinary grade, both have the same benefits however the more expensive is from younger leaves which require more delecate processing so I've read and the culinary grade is also great but from more mature leaves plus grown in more shade too. I like ceremonial as is plain but the other is more bitter tasting yet still good, we made a latte using the cooking grade and almond vanilla milk, sooo delicious! Add some sugar or safe sugar substitute though to make it sweeter. My next project is to make a Swiss cake roll out of the cooking Matcha. I also had a bad sinus infection and started feeling better after just a couple days of having this as it can boost your immune system, mine needed the help. The taste can take some getting use to for many but we find it to be amazing.

A mixed bag
My review is complicated, so read to the end if you really want to understand my opinion. I really wanted to love this matcha. I don't hate this matcha, by any means. It just isn't great. I am a tea enthusiast. I have an appreciation for a wide range of teas. My chief demand is that the tea do a good job at being what it is. Cheap tea should be good, cheap tea. Flavored teas should be good, flavored teas. HIgh-end teas should be exquisite at being high end. Kenko organic matcha is priced to be ceremonial (rather than culinary) grade matcha, but it falls short of that standard. The matcha experience that I was introduced to in Uji, Japan was very distinctive: a vibrant, emerald color, frothy foam, mild temperature, and a flavor that is complex, with notes of grass, sweetness, and bitterness. Additionally, very good matcha provides an almost medicinal feeling, like you are drinking a tonic. There is a feeling of well-being that comes from sipping good matcha. Lest you think this was an effect of Japan, and not the matcha, I have had this experience at home with matcha I brought back with me from that ancient tea town. The Kenko wins on the color and foam. It whips up like any other fine grade matcha, and makes a lovely emerald bowl. Where it falls short is in flavor and the feeling of well-being. The flavor is quite mild and not very complex. I attempted to correct for the flavor with greater amounts of matcha powder in the serving, but succeeded only in making myself jittery from additional caffeine. The amazing flavor I associate with matcha just wasn't there. The feeling of well-being never materialized, either. That feeling is a very vague and subjective criticism, and should perhaps be discarded from the overall rating, but the flavor alone earns the tea only three stars.HOWEVER, I will say for organic matcha, it is likely Kenko is very good. I have tried a wide range of organic and non-organic teas, and I often find organic teas to be less flavorful than their non-organic counterparts. I don't know why this is. I am not biased against organic food; I often choose organic foods in preference for both their flavor and better practices. Organic teas, though, consistently disappoint.I think if you are committed to an organic lifestyle, and are looking for a matcha selection, Kenko is a fine choice. If you are looking for great matcha, I recommend Ippodo's ceremonial grade. Also, do yourself a favor and learn how to make matcha properly. It is brewed at a much lower temperature than even regular tea, and you must use the proper amount of powder for your serving, and you must whisk it thoroughly in a matcha bowl. You must also take care to drink the matcha before the powder settles out. If you make the tea wrong and hate the result, don't leave a negative review of the tea. That is user error, and not the fault of the seller. Also, if you do not already enjoy green tea, it is unlikely you will enjoy matcha. It is a more intense experience than regular brewed green tea.

This is my first venture into the world matcha tea. After a lot of research, reading reviews, and checking prices, I decided on KENKO. The tea arrived quickly and in the advertised package. I opened it up and smelled it, the tea smelled fresh and grassy.I have learned that a little goes a long way. Currently I use 1/4 - 1/2 tsp per 8-10 oz of water and it is perfect. I have used this tea in several different ways, including hot tea, iced tea, latte, and in a panna cotta. They all have been wonderful and the wife an I often enjoy a hot cup of matcha with honey. As others have mentioned, I can "feel" the caffeine but can't explain it. With coffee, I sometimes feel hyper and jittery and experience a crash, with this tea I don't feel any of that. The way I mix my tea is in a blender bottle although any bottle would probably work. I did place the powder into a glass container for easy access.I would buy this product again.

Finally!
After becoming obsessed with Matcha lattes from Starbucks, I decided to try and make my own. I quickly learned that all Matcha powders are not created equal. Thank goodness for Amazon's return policy!First try, Jade Leaf Culinary grade: From Japan, good flavor, ok color, reasonably priced, just not amazing.Next, RLT Starter Matcha: From China, bland even when adding extra powder, incredibly cheap, brownish color... just bad! (Return)This product, Kenko Culinary grade Matcha: From Japan, full of flavor, bright neon green, worth the extra $$.

Worth the money.
I don't like matcha. There. I said it. But I like the idea of being a person who likes matcha. Also- all those health benefits in just a half of teaspoon?!?! So, I drink it. Then someone told me the quality of matcha makes all the difference. So I coughed up the cash and purchased this ceremonial grade powder. Turns out I do like matcha... just the really expensive kind. Also, having it arrive in the MOST endearing tin helped. The follow upEmail sent by the company was perfect and included a helpful PDF. Good experience all around.

It's good, but not the greatest I've had
This is good matcha, not the greatest I've had, but might be the best one on Amazon. I've had a great can of matcha before from a Japanese food store, but now I moved and can't get it anymore. It had Japanese writings on it so I have no idea what brand it was, and the price was within the $20-30 range, so I'm not comparing a $100 matcha with this one-- they cost about the same. What this one lacks is a strong green tea flavor. I always make matcha latte and I can't really taste much of the flavor using the same amount. I don't know what it is that gives this a slightly weaker taste, but I had the same problem with American made Chinese green tea, even if they say the tea came from China it still somehow tastes nothing like the tea I had in China. With that being said, this is still good matcha. Most matcha here on Amazon have English on them. They are not made by Japanese companies. At least this one has a decent light green color and the taste is good. It doesn't taste stale or gritty and smells right. The taste is a bit lacking so people who find green tea hard to drink might enjoy this more.

Perfect taste for the authentic Matcha experience
Matcha lover here after visiting Japan. Got this product after reading all the glowing reviews. Delivery took a while as its being sent from the US (I think) but tea tastes great and dissolves easily.

I have grown to love the taste
I have grown to love the taste..but only with milk and sweetener.. I do feel a glow on my face, an increase in immunity and a mood boosting effect.. I also use it once or twice a week as a face pack. I bought it to improve my mood and it does seem to help..so i dont mind the extra calories due to milk and sugar as it serves the purpose for which i bought it.
