Maltitol and xylitol "keto friendly"? nope!

You're correct, they're absolutely not keto friendly, and maltitol cannot be deducted to figure net carbs. It truly stuns me that brands get away with this considering the GI for maltitol--Atkins and Russell Stover are two others that do it too.

Do not buy. maltitol is not keto friendly and neither is xylitol really.?

Sugar is 100 on the Glycemic Index. Maltitol is a very high GI-36 and can kick you out of keto. Erythritol is a zero.

The front of the bag says 12g net carbs, but that doesnt match the back, which is zero carbs

We understand that many different diets or health programs calculate net carbs that way. However, FDA nutrition labeling guidelines do not allow us to use that calculation for the facts on our packaging. Per the FDA and most dietitians, the correct formula for arriving at net carbs is to subtract 100% of fiber and 50% of sugar alcohols. That is how we arrived at the 12g net carb number you mentioned. Hi! If you're on keto and searching for sweets, it's because you have a sweet tooth and you would rather avoid eating a candy bar or a cookie or a piece of cake. You need a once-in-a-while small treat to get you through with as few carbs as possible. In short you're looking for a happy medium for the rare indulgence. That's what we're here to give you. As long as you're good with portion control, you will do just fine eating 2-3 of these a day. By the way, even if you count every sugar alcohol as a full carb, 25g/5 pieces = only 5g carbs a piece. This is still markedly better than your alternatives for a sweet tooth. You may be interested to know why we use maltitol. Is it the best alternative sweetener for keto macros?
