The Kunz No.79 primarily trims long grain rabbets and grooves so that cabinet backs and drawer bottoms fit better. With some care and dexterity, it will also widen cross grain dados. The 79's opposite-facing blades let you enter a cut from either direction, thus avoiding end grain blowout. An adjustable stop allows cuts down to 9/16". As the whole casting is epoxy coated you will have to remove the paint from the depth stop, skate and the back of the tool so you don't wind up with green streaks on your work piece. The body is from fine grey-cast which is stress relieved and epoxy coated, the iron is produced from optimum quality tool steel and hardened to approximatly 62 Rockwell HRC. The plane iron is supplied sharpened but we would highly recommend you hone it prior to use. Kunz brand so quality assured.
