Totally worth it!
It doesn’t look like much but it does the job extremely well! Spent a lot of time preparing the sight for the pool, and even so, once set up there were some very sharp plant roots that were cut way below ground level that worked their way up over the summer. I thought for sure that all that time and prep would be wasted because surely these couple little sharp spears that were under the gorilla pad and pool liner would put a hole in it. Even with my 3 kids, and young nieces coming to swim regularly, the pool liner nor the pad had any holes, tears or any other damage from what had washed up under the pool. It also did add softness under foot. Very very comfortable.

An excellent product at a good price
An excellent product at a good price. A perfect base for above ground pools. Much less expensive than sand, which washes away, The technology to make such a thin piece of material so strong and durable is amazing. It's like Kevlar for your pool! We had our pool set up in the driveway, nice and flat, but over time, even though we had two tarps down, the prickly asphalt began to wear holes in the pool bottom. No more! G'rilla Pad to the rescue! This product and a bottle of Fix-A-Leak saved us from having to purchase a new pool!

great feel to the pool floor
This pad is wonderful. Last year I had a 12' above ground intex metal frame pool. Surrounding it I put down stones approx 1" to 2" diameter range. This year I put in a 14' round pool. I tried to move as much of the stones as possible but could not get every one of them. I purchased this pad after reading the reviews of how it covers many different types of surfaces. I am so glad I did. I do not feel any of the stones left behind but more importantly I have a much better feel to the bottom than last year with just sand. It is soft and comfortable. I recommend this pad to anyone using an intex type above ground pool.

Good product, but indifferent
Gave this product 3 stars. I should give 4, maybe? This is why. Third year for my intex ultraframe pool. 1st 2 years completely trouble free. Although, I spent three seasons prior to getting the pool, preparing the ground, perfectly landscaping, making sure level was perfect and totally free of potential damaging debris. In addition, I placed to 2 tarps and the intex ground cover under the pool. Trouble free, yet not at all comfortable to walk on. The pressure of 5000 gal of water really does bring up any tiny, tiny ground imperfection. It was rock hard on your feet. Mind you, I meticulously maintain this pool and the landscaping. This is the First season using the gorilla pad because my ground cover was tearing. Thought it pricy but broke down and purchased it. Still have 2 tarps and now the gorilla pad under the liner. So, this year I also supported the frame with cement pavers that I didn't dig into the ground. Intex users, you know as you fill the ultraframe pools, you have to move the legs out to plumb as the pool fills. To allow for this, I placed the pavers on top of the ground, with the tarps and then the gorilla pad over them forming a kind of cove. As the pool filled (professional water delivery) pool man lifted the frame and I slid out the pavers so as to not have the bottom of the liner resting against the pavers. Still, I wasn't fast enough, even with help to slide all the pavers out far enough. 2 paver edges aren't perfectly aligned with the pool bottom and you can feel it. Again, pavers are covered by tarp and the gorilla pad. No issue until a couple days ago. I noticed a pencil eraser size mark on the bottom, about an 1 1/2" below the seam that turned out to be a hole in the liner. Yes we were slowly leaking. My fault maybe. However, the statement for this liner says impermeable to rocks, glass, etc. I suppose the pressure from the water on this portion of paver, even softened by the pad and a tarp, still caused a problem with weekly vaccuming the pool. I did patch it and its holding, but am disappointed. I don't feel this should have happened. The bad.The good. HOWEVER, the bottom of the pool is WONDERFUL to walk on now. A real pleasure. Shows slight footprints if illuminated at night by a pool light, but nothing really ugly, and I am sure that the gorilla pad is helping cusion the liner against that paver. That hole may have had disasterous results with out it! ?? Long story short, we are installing a larger permanent above ground pool next season. There is a thicker, foam feeling, taped seam pool pad with this pool but I am going to save my gorilla pad and put both pads underneath!

I was under the impression that this would be a nice thick piece of cushioned fabric or even rubber
Very unhappy with this. I guess I should have been more careful about the details or something. I was under the impression that this would be a nice thick piece of cushioned fabric or even rubber. It is a very thin piece of felt fabric. It does cover the entire bottom of the pool but provides very little if any cusion or protection. I will be looking for something else next year.

Real or foam?
Buying something like this for the first time was a challenge.I get some sort of tree seed that has pointy parts to it at the beginning of the season and the end.Really I bought this to insure any I missed would not poke through my new liner.Hell I could have bought batting at the local craft store, it is not as dense as I hoped. They should not call this a pad, they should just call it batting! After a month I took the pool down to redo the liner and water and it was still in place and did not look like it was tore up, so it did what I wanted it to, but it should not be called a pad.

This has worked out awesome for us
This has worked out awesome for us. The other reviewers that said it isn't thick are correct, but really who cares as long as it does the job? We decided to dig out our grass to put down one of those pop up steel frame pools. My husband said he didn't want the smell of dead grass😕 Well, seemed like a good idea until we realized how many tree roots were under the grass! Oh my... It was horrible. So we did the best we could and then put this down. Our pool has had action everyday all day and nothing! Awesome product. So happy we bought, and even though cheaper would be great, I'm a happy camper knowing our pool isn't going to pop!:)

Not what i expected
the description said it was a PAD, but it is just a thin sheet of fabric! certainly not worth the price! really disappointed. ordered it in the winter so by the time we opened it and I seen it, it was too late!

Once again this summer we put the pool on top ...
Once again this summer we put the pool on top of our patio, but this time I used the Gorilla pad underneath. Even though it seems quite thin coming out of the box, it still does make quite a difference, and all the kids agree!
