Solid and easy on and off lathe.
Very nice simple steady rest. Easy to install and uninstall when needed. I also have a monster huge steady rest, which is great but nearly need to disassemble my lathe to put it on. This one does the job without any hassle.

Works great
I bought this to use on my bench top lathe. It works great. I’m still learning and practicing with it.

Good tool for the price, just not quite professional grade.
Not bad for the price paid. Good for home shop or light use, but not suitable for heavy use nor the professional woodworker. Built just a bit too lightweight and cuts a few corners on the budget tool. GOOD - The ring does center well on 12/14/16 inch swings. The wheels are non-marring r ubhber, and setup is dead simple. I can actually leave this in place at the headstock end of the lathe and still access my spurs, chucks, and collets with no need to remove it. It does come assembled with exception of the holding bar and spacers. Those are included as well as three bolts of correct length for spacers are all there. NOT AS GOOD - The spacers included are made o hard plastic rather than metal, which adds to the tendency to vibrate due to relatively thin ring construction. The base is not a welded plate, but is a bent tab - part of the stamped steel ring. While it is fairly substantial in handling, it does suffer from vibrational issues under any imbalance in the spindle when cutting. The rubber wheels had to be sanded to remove the centerline mold leftovers, but that was easy to accomplish by setting wheels against the circumference of a spur and running the lathe at about 800rpm while carefully sanding the wheels with 120 grit. I read one reviewer's solution to vibration by adding a plywood (or metal) stiffener to the ring. Voids any warranty, but it can solve the problem. I would only suggest finding or making your own metal one inch spacers if you need them, and lose the plastic. BAD - nothing that is a show stopper, as the basic tool doest a pretty fair job for the price paid. I would recommend this to casual turners, garage shop woodworkers, but not for production shops.

Fits Jet Mini-Lathe Perfectly to Enable Safe and Accurate Work on Longer Woodturning Projects
BMWOOD's Steady Rest fits perfectly on my Jet mini-lathe. While turning a 12" Cocobolo wood chalice, the Steady Rest allows me to hollow out the cup very accurately. Even more importantly, this tool increases the safety of the turning process signifcantly. Well-made and easy to install and adjust, BMWOOD's Steady Rest is an important addition to my lathe, and expands the overall length of project that I can turn safely.

Useful Device
Works well to support long pieces that are held by headstock chuck with no tail stock support. No worries about something flying off while turning.

Center wheels only open about 7 inches
I’m disappointed, even though the item description states that it fits on 12, 14 and 16 inch wood lathe; however the center wheels only open about 7 inches. I wanted to use it on at least 8 to 10 inches in diameter bowls. I’m returning it

I installed this on my Nova Neptune Max smart lathe which has a 15" swing. The Steady Rest is quite solid (heavy steel 5 mm thick frame and sliders) and when clamped down doesn't move or wobble at all. It is provided with locking handles for both the three sliders and the base which are very convenient and tool-free. The base is also provided with hex bolts, presumably for cases where the handle would get in the way. This rest is basically designed for a 12" swing lathe, but comes with spacers for 14" and 16" swing as well. My lathe is has a 15" swing which means that the center doesn't align quite right with the existing spacers. To center it properly, I 3D printed a spacer that fills the gap between the other two - for my 15" swing lathe. My only suggestions to improve this rest would be first, for the good folks at BMWOOD to add in an extra half-height spacer to cover the midpoint between the current swing coverage. My second suggestion would be to put a lip/rim on the spacers to auto-align to the metal frame and other spacers. I did this on my spacer and it makes installation positioning on the lathe a bit less fiddley for one person (see attached image - note that I made my spacer a single unit at 1.5 times the thickness of the two provided by BMWOOD).

excellent piece of equipment. Easy to set up and store. made with solid material.

Good steady rest, fitting most lathes with conventional square-bar beds. The roller-blade wheels spin very smoothly and quietly and the steady rest holds the workpiece solidly (for hollowing) once the tail stock has been removed.

The steady is well made and looks like it will perform as intended. The delivery time was very poor as two dates were missed. The steady was (in my opinion) poorly packaged with insufficient protection around the steady to cushion it whilst in transit.
