Lonely Planet Philippines

No mention of the rest of 7000+ islands but this is a good start
Yes, many more islands out there but I think any foreign tourist would find this book very helpful. Eventually, the more adventurous traveler would realize, it isn't that hard to find a hidden gem here or there.

Great guide
Lonely Planet books are great. Easy to read, well laid out and formatted. 15th edition is pretty up to date. There’s reasons Lonely Planet publications are premier travel guides.

Great for trip planning
We love the Lonely Planet books. We are keen semi-retired travellers, and whilst we have good health, we are seeing as much of the world as possible - Lonely Planet has been our go-to for many years and this guide to the Philippines is up to date and full of information.

This is not the LP you know and love
Yes it's been fashionable to bash Lonely Planet for a few decades now, but they were always my favourite because they gave good information, and in particular at the end of each place it would tell you how to get there without private transport, including a grid of journey lengths for the bigger towns. This new one has very little of that, instead lots of photos with breathless descriptions. And I haven't seen any of the cutting descriptions you occasionally used to get!
