Good enough to write a reviewβ¦
I was on the fence about buying one of these for a while, but I bought it, and itβs worth the $15! This pouch is as close to perfect as a piece of βluxuryβ can be. You donβt need this, in fact, when you need it it might not be enough insulation but itβs exceeded my expectations thus far for what I needed and for under $15 itβs worth trying.Itβs well made, can compress down to about the size of a smartphone and has elastic straps sewn onto it. A large piece of Velcro holds the lid closed.Iβve used it to warm up backpacking meals in temps from 90β-high 40βs and itβs worked wonderfully. Iβve also used it with my family as a small cooler for day trips and paired with an ice pack it will keep cool for several hours. Iβve also used it as a cooler for weekend trips where Iβm carrying a couple chilly with me and want them to be cool when I get to camp.Again, you probably donβt need this, but itβs nice. Nicer than the one I had for years that I made out of a car windshield sunscreen. Lighter than mine was too. I highly recommend.

Good item
I got this one and I also got the much more expensive one from hyperlite. Both are good. I now use this one for putting my food bag inside when it is rehydrating, which is the intended purpose. I am not sure you really need this because even during winter camping in below freezing temperatures, my food bags are plenty warm enough after rehydrating because I am starting them with boiling water. However this bag is nice.I use the other more expensive one for my camera batteries. I put a hand warmer inside and it works very well. Now I don't have to keep all my camera batteries in my sleeping bag. I have not tried this with the big sky brand bag but it seems to me it would work. It is an insulating bag and especially with a hand warmer - it can help keep anything warm, not just food.As for one of the reviews that said the velcro got covered in fur or hair, I am mindful to protect the velcro. I try not to let the velcro touch anything. I don't think you need the velcro because you can just fold over the bag. But it's fine. So far my velcro has zero fur or hair in it.The one thing this bag does better than the more expensive brand is size! This one is big enough for all my food meal bags but the hyperlite brand is too small for many.Overall I think this is a good product and I bring it on my winter trips. I've taken it out 5 times this winter so far and used it each time.

A new addition to my gear
I am trying to shed ounces from my gear and decided to try this. I am glad I did. I have used it in few backpacking trips and worked well for my cook-in-a-bag meals. It is roomy enough for 2-3 meals, so we only have to carry one bag instead of 2. It is very light and it rolls into a very compact roll that fits nicely in my food bag. I bought a second bag to keep my electronics in cold weather.PROS: super light and compact; roomy; multiuse - I keep my clean eating ware in it.CONS: it is very soft and not as sturdy as the bags made of reflective car shade material. Durability could be questionable, but so far is holding ok. Also my meals took a few minutes longer to "cook" in this bag than my reflective bags, but not a deal breaker.Overall, it is a good bag worth the price.

Just a pouch... not really
Works great with backpacking meals. Easily big enough for two person meals. Roll the top down just a little bit and pour the water in. Roll it back up and velcro the top back in place. Does a great job. Super light and my camp spoon fits in there perfectly. Roll the whole thing up and wrap the straps around it and throw it in the hilltop food bag. Nice.

Works perfectly
You can pack out two tall cans and theyβll stay cold for a hot 8 miles. When you switch it to keeping your dinner hot and helping with hydration of said dinner itβs equally amazing. I read the other reviews about it melting but I havenβt had that issue. I havenβt used any freezer bags in there with boiling water though. Iβve just used the packaging most of the meals come in. Itβs as light as a feather and is kind of a game changer in my meal kit.

a microwave for freezer bag meals
This is perfect for freezer bag meals! It is light weight, easy to clean, and folds down slim enough to stash anywhere in a backpack. The Velcro runs the entire width of the opening which ensures a good seal. The bottom folds in a way that enables the bag to stand on it's own when holding the food bag. I use mostly quart freezer bags with an average of 3-4 cups of water and food together and there is still plenty of room. The insulation material is very pliable but holds the heat well enough to cook meals quickly. I Also used this for freeze dried/dehydrated camp meals and it cooked more quickly and thoroughly. I would definitely recommend this for anyone cooking on the trail and eating out of a bag.

A great concept that is poorly executed
The concept is great, but the stitching on the bag is TERRIBLE. Just one incredibly flimsy stitch. This will likely last just a few shorts hikes and you will have a giant hole in the side of the bag. Mine came with a small hole in the side of the bag that I stitched up myself.

We Consider it a Backpacking Essential
My husband, son and I backpack several times a years. Short trips and long. I dehydrate food and prepare all our backpacking meals. Like commercial backpacking food, I make meals that can be rehydrated just by adding boiling water, then putting the bag in a "cozy" and waiting.I bought this product for the first time in 2018, attracted by the great price and how little it weighs. It has seen heavy use since. It will hold two meals at once and keeps them warm as long as needed. We store our fuel, stove and sporks in it when hiking. So it's dual purpose as well. This one is a gift for a friend.
