Was specifically looking for a slightly smaller than standard hand cranked grinder to take on travels so wanted a unit that was as light and discrete as it could be without compromising its function and have to say that this grinder is excellent quality for the price.The unit itself is nicely machine tooled with a magentic attaching top piece - including crank grinder with flip up handle - and stands at around 2" tall with the grind handle folded down. The "width/circumference" of the grinder itself is also just over 2" by my reckoning (Seller lists actual size as :- 55mm*60mm) which means that this grinder is slightly smaller than a "normal" size grinder so dont be surprised if it is a regular sized one you are after but didnt check this before buying.However - if portability and discretion are important considerations - this is a really excellent little grinder. Its even possible to unscrew and remove the "filter" section to leave you with an even smaller and lighter unit standing at around 1 1/2 with the crank handle laid downwards.The crank handle itself is also very well made - neatly snapping into place or snapping back into rest position with a really satisfying action. The entire crank handle and grinding teeth unit can also be easily unscrewed from the top piece for thorough cleaning if it ever be necessary so whilst at the price it is it can almost be considered as disposable - if long term use is intended you would be able to easily clean and maintain if necessary.There are of course a million different types of herb grinders serving a million different requirements but if you are specifically after a metal, small, discrete, hand cranked grinder I have to say that I genuinely dont think there is a better one on Amazon in terms of quality and price.

Useless because there's no screw top on grinder compartment. Do not buy!
