Wrong sizing for petite body
Beautiful dress but size is too big ordered a Small way too big and X small was still too big as well. When corset fully tightened dress fabric began to bunch and was still too loose. My daughter is a size 0-1 in formal dresses. Returned both dresses don’t have time for alterations.

Beautiful dress, but sizing is off
This dress is beautiful and very heavy. But it runs really large. My daughter is a size 0, but the XS was huge on her. We had to have it taken in significantly for it to fit.

Good project, bad dress
Okay, so I have several comments. This might be a long one, but if you want the full picture—pros and cons included—hang in there. Let’s start with the good stuff. Kind of. This dress is a great starting point if you’re looking for a project piece. It’s a solid base for alterations. The sleeves are beautiful, the color is a deep teal (which I love), and the fabric feels decently high quality. The skirt flows nicely and has a good length. The material itself isn’t stretchy at all, but the sleeves have elastic, so they don’t strangle my arms no matter how I move. It’s lined, which is one less thing to worry about—especially from a lesser-known online brand. The fabric weight is reasonable for a ball gown and it holds its shape pretty well. Now for the not-so-great parts. I personally don’t think it’s worth the price as-is. I’d pay maybe $50, tops, for the materials and effort that went into it. It honestly feels like something I’d find in a thrift store after a low-budget period play. The stitches aren’t tight, the ribbon for the corset lacing isn’t finished, and the hem is raw—so I’ll have to fix that myself if I ever plan to wear it seriously. The front bow doesn’t lay correctly either. My biggest issue? The bodice looks boned in the photos. It isn’t. For something designed like a corset-style gown, that’s a huge miss. Without boning, it’s almost impossible to get the bodice to lay flat. The fabric bunches up around the waist and hips, and the bow seems like it was meant to rely on a stiffer structure than the dress actually has. In short: it’s a fun fixer-upper if you like sewing or costume projects, and it does have potential. But if you just want a ready-to-wear gown, it’s not going to deliver.

Civil War era ballgown
Simply gorgeous! Used for a production of Little Women, my student felt like a star!

Badly Constructed and Immediately Returned
This dress was a sewing disaster. The bodice was literally curved at the center instead of laying straight. The skirt bunched horribly where it connected to the bodice. The top sash piece was sewn on crooked. It goes on. It was promptly returned.

Definitely buy
I was unsure how the dress will come out but it came with very good quality like the dresses at the stores and it came with a hoop skirt. I got lots of complimented of how pretty it is, but I pined the heart shape neckline to make it look more of a one piece fabric.
