Great tool for pruning a cactus!
This saw is excellent! Just what I needed to prune the cacti around my property. This is easier to use than the pruning shears I tried to use before and creates a cleaner cut which I think puts less on the plant. Definitely a great tool that I would recommend.

Don't buy until the product issues are resolved.
Please note that the picture shows the blade secured using the cover, but when delivered it comes with a note that says not to use the cover, use only the screw. Rather then having the blade remanufactured such that the cover can be used (the screw hole and the locating notch are not properly positioned on the blade), the attempt is being made to convince the consumer that the use of the product without the cover is acceptable. Unfortunately the blade is very poorly secured and the blade is too fragile to be effective without the cover. I suggest that you confirm the problem has been resolved before you purchase this tool.Once the issue is resolved it will be a fine toolThank you

Needs modifications
Like other reviewers noted, the instructions say “do not use the blade cover plate”. This is because the handle appears to have been designed for a different blade…It says to just use the screw, but even with just the screw, the blade does not sit flat and firmly against the handle. I don’t think I’d use it like that.Once I ground the ridge around the threaded hole flat and ground the notch on the back of the blade a little larger, I could fit the blade and the retaining cover as it was designed to be, and it then holds the blade firmly. It now works well. The blade could be a little longer on my very mature Agave Americana, but taking a second bite is easy enough, and still easier than the pruning saw I was previously using. If you don’t have a die grinder, vice and ability to to make the required modifications, I’d think twice about getting this pruner. They really need to either source the correct blade or modify the design for the current blade. I don’t think it’s acceptable to just say don’t use the cover. If I wasn’t able to make the modifications, I would have returned it.It probably really only deserves one or two stars, but once the deficiencies were corrected, I actually like how it performs. It’s really a serrated knife than a saw, and I think this actually works better than a saw. I thought the handle might be a little short, but in use, I think it’s a good balance between providing reach vs alllowing sufficient leverage on the blade to cut effectively.

A clear disappointment! The "Saw" arrived with a straight blade
A clear disappointment! The "Saw" arrived with a straight blade, not a serrated blade as shown on Amazon, so it is a long handled knife. Not much of a saw. Misleading advertising. But worse, the Blade does not align with the Blade Cover and the Handle (see photos for visual). The Blade Cover and the Handle match up and align correctly to each other, but when you attach the Blade, the notch on the Blade is offset about 1mm from the Blade Cover pin and the pin recess on the Handle that would otherwise lock the Blade Cover and Blade to the Handle. Shabby engineering or shabby manufacturing or both. SO you cannot use the Blade Cover, and structural strength is compromised without the Blade Cover locking and protecting the the Blade base. The instructions included with the "Saw" actually instruct you to not use the Blade Cover (again, see photo of the instructions). On the positive, the straight Blade is sharp, but this is a light tool, suitable for small cacti only, especially with the compromised Blade attachment. As sold, this is less effective than an d more expensive that a machete. Suitable for small succulents and cacti only.
