Tamiya 1/48 Raiden Jack #61018 Kit/Build Review
The Tamiya 1/48 Raiden Jack is a high value kit for its reasonable price point. For the most part, the model went together with no fit issues except for a very narrow gap along the rear of the fuselage behind the wing and another narrow gap along the rear side of the wing assembly between the wing and the fuselage. Superglue can be used to seal up these gaps in short order. The rest of the parts went together with no additional issues. Canopy to fuselage fit was precise and trouble free. As the canopy frame is barely raised above the windowpanes on this part, a die cut mask set is highly recommended. If careful attention to parts assembly and detail painting is applied to this build, an accurate and realistic miniature replica of this aircraft can be built. As the decals are thick in contour, Micro Sol and Micro Set decal solutions are highly recommended to aid in decal placement and installation. Despite the age of this kit, the included standing pilot figure is nicely rendered with fairly crisp strap and harness molded detail. Due to the kits low parts and decal count, this kit can be recommended for fine scale modelers of all levels of model building skill.

Great old school Raiden in 1/48
Not the most detailed Tamiya model, this 1/48 Raiden is a great model for newbies and returnees to the hobby. For $16.50 this was deal.Limited detail and large canopy make for a challenge but the cockpit is OK. Give this one a 5 for fun.

Worth the money
This is one of Tamiya's older kits but it assembles well and the cockpit is quite nice for its vintage.

Good kit of older Tamiya airplane.
This is a kit of the Tamiya Japanese WWII fighter plane "Raiden". This kit came out in the 1970s. Kit went together surprisingly well for its age, I had no fit problems. Only area that I can probably complain about is the main landing gear - My finished kit sits sort of "bull-legged", but that was most likely my fault for not letting the glue dry completely. Kit comes with instruction sheet in English and Japanese. There is a painting guide as well as suggested decal placement. Decals came for 2 different Japanese aircraft. There is a short history of this aircraft in action. 2 figures are provided: 1 seated pilot figure to place inside the cockpit; 1 standing pilot figure. Decals were pretty good for the age of the kit and I had no problems with them. Total parts count was roughly 50 parts - about right for a 1970s vintage model aircraft kit. Had my Raiden built in about 3 hours, little longer for painting. This is a tough little kit for dropped it a few times and only things that broke off was the antenna and one of the main landing gear. This would be a great kit for younger persons to start out modeling for parts count is low and the instructions are easy to follow. Remember, this is a PLASTIC model kit and construction is required. Paint/glue not included.

Ready for building
The item came in a protective shipping box so the contents were not crushed. The item looks like it was purchased at a local hobby shop. The clear plastic was still on. This is not the norm. I will look for this seller when I am shopping. HIGHLY recommended.
