All is well,, only when it came the box was done

I've bought these gels for several years now and always enjoy them. The new packaging is not an improvement. The retained top makes it difficult to get a good seal to suck the gel out. And now it takes a lot of effort to be sure I've got all the gel out. I use these to treat hypoglycemia as a diabetic and they're more hassle to use when I have low blood sugar now.

Taste is not impressive.

Terrible. Been ordering these by the box for years, had a subscribe and save setup for them as they were that good, and that consistently reliable. But last couple have had the new packaging design, and it is absolutely awful. I understand the concept, reducing the bits of waste that can get dropped from the old style, and for ease of returning them for recycling, environmental box ticking, which I’m fine with - when done properly. But in doing so, they’ve made these virtually impossible to consume - especially whilst riding. Not only is the new tear top which remains attached just a plain nuisance and just gets in the way, but the thickness of the packaging material now is so thick, it’s just impossible to use. Not ordinarily one to leave a review, but this needs calling out. Bring back the old packaging! For now, the I’m back on hunt for good value box of gels, that taste good, are easy on the stomach and easy to use - real shame, High5 really had ticked all the boxes with the previous one - prime example of don’t fix what’s not broken.

Manchester marathon changed their gel sponsor from SiS to High5 - and I was gutted. I decided to train with High5 to save having to carry 8+ gels during the marathon. Very liquid compared to SiS, and it did take a while to remember this everytime I opened one on a training run! Blackcurrant is a pleasant flavour, worked well with my carb needs and didn't cause any stomach issues. Will continue to use these as they are a lot more affordable than SiS - these companies aren't stupid when it comes to sponsoring events are they!
