I do t know about Samsung. But it works for apple

Q: we have tried charging 3 of the cases so far and none of the fully charged leds are turning from red to blue after 3 hours. what am i doing wrong?

The red light will stay on during charging. When fully charged the light will go out. This is the indicator for charging. Then when you turn on the keyboard the blue light for POWER indicator will go on for a short time. You seem to be wanting a blue light to appear on CHARGE indicator. Two separate indicators.

Q: S8 plus this keyboard case or the keyboard case with touchpad, which one do you recommend?

Depending on how you use it, I personally usually just use it to watch movies and videos, so I tend to look for situations without a trackpad.

Q: When the lid is closed, does it turn off the tablet?

No, it will put it into sleep mode and will not turn it off.
