School Leader's Guide to Root Cause Analysis

This book was a required reading for the graduate program I'm currently in to obtain my teaching administration license. Not only is this book remarkable in that it describes in a nutshell what many administrators/school districts don't do (actually determine the root cause of the problem before jumping to a solution that likely won't work), this book offers tools for your pedagogical toolbox to help you discover the actual cause of the issue and then methods to determine a fix. I will be going back to this book again and again over the years, and once I become an administrator, it will be a required read for everyone that is in my school that is on a team or committee charged with attempting to solve a given issue.

As a school improvement specialist I found the concepts and tools in this book espcially helpful in working with my schools to go deeper in their school improvement work. Preuss illustrates some effective strategies with which to approach a complex process.
