Prop Laptop Stand - Portable Cooling Stand - Improves Viewing Angle

I like the simplicity and elegance of the design, and it does work fine to lift my 17" HP laptop off the table so that it runs cooler. However, what I very much dislike about this stand is that it's far too slippery. It's like it's made of lubricant. The laptop slides sideways on it at the slightest touch, although so far it hasn't actually fallen off (if only because I panic and stop it). The whole unit, laptop and all, slides on the table with any pressure (I had to put it on some rubber drawer liner to keep it from wandering every time I open the lid). This is annoying at best and could be disastrous at worst. Aside from those issues, the whole device consists of just two little sticks of very lightweight plastic and is frankly way overpriced, although it is now selling for less than I paid for it.I think it's a good concept but needs a bit of work to be really practical. The computer needs to have broader points of contact with the stand and the stand with the table. The material needs to be made less slippery either by the judicious addition of rubber or silicone, or by changing the shape/texture of the contact points of the stand material itself.

Nearly ideal in its simplicity and function. I thought it might not be stable enough, but once I put my 15" MacBook on it, it was fine. It holds the laptop at just the right angle for comfortable typing. Once possible downside is that it is not adjustable for angle. Some taller people might find the maximum tilt of the screen too far forward (toward the vertical). It raises the back of my MacBook (at the hinge) exactly 2", so you should check to see if it will work for you. If not, you could put something under the front "legs" of the stand to raise the laptop. I'm deducting one star because in my opinion the price is high considering the cost of the material and labor to produce.

I have tried several laptop stands, and this is the best one. The others were difficult to use, unwieldy, or heavy. Some of them broke within a few weeks. That being said, this is my THIRD Prop. I have broken two in my laptop case and backpack. it is still the best that I've used thus far, and at less than $20, I'm ok with having to buy replacements. For me, the materials of the other stands were either just as flimsy, did not work well, or were too heavy to carry around. Perhaps if there were a carrying case, or if the material used was of the same lightness but sturdier, I would give the Prop a higher rating.

I have to start by stating that the minimal design is gorgeously simple, sleek and featherweight.But there were two things that did not work me:It never sat completely flat until laptop was placed on top. Maybe I needed to really jam the arms together but I felt I might break the arms if I did. Which brings me to my second point.The first time I tried to take it apart to bring with me, one of the arms did in fact snap in half at the joint where the two meet. I returned it.So, I loved the design but it wasn't very durable.

I've been interested in the Prop since it first debuted on Kickstarter in 2011. Strapped for cash and skeptical, I put the idea of purchasing it out of mind for quite some time. However, I recently came across it on Amazon and decided to make the purchase. I don't regret it one bit. I'm not one to frequently write reviews, but I want to inform everyone that I am highly satisfied with this product. My 15" Macbook sits securely on the prop stand. The prop stand elevates my Macbook allowing for better air flow. Additionally, the slight downward angle of the stand makes the Macbook keyboard more ergonomical. The stand is beautiful, functional, and durable. While I don't often tote my laptop around, I like the fact the the Prop stand easily disassembles into a highly portable accessory. I highly recommend this product.

I love this theory but, and the description does state this, it IS a little "wobbly" until you get use to it. I do like the way it elevates my laptop and do think its keeping it cooler than the one I had before. Also, although I had seen this on another sight, was very pleased to see it on Amazon where, because of my PRIME account, the shipping was free and got it in 2 days! The other site's S&H is very high...so thanks again Amazon for having what I wanted!

The stand is truly a good tool. Ergonomically it is a boon not only to my typing angle it brings the screen into a more favorable position. I t had one draw back for me. I work on a desk with a glass top and it tends to slip around. To save me chasing it aroundI applied small chunks of plumbing gasket material to the feet. That solved the problem completely. I highly recommend the product.Fred

It works, but it does not lie flat on my desk, which is a little annoying. The angle is good though, it helps take some of the pressure off of my wrists while typing.
