Unexpectedly good quality
The bowl feels a little cheap though that might be because it just feels light. It's actually decent quality & really only ment to hold the shaving soap I would say. The brush however was unexpectedly well made with solid weight and comfortable design. The brush gets softer with use; though the smell hasn't really gone away. Something that is supposedly a true sign of a boar hair brush. Thankfully the odor doesn't transfer & has gotten a bit better, again, with use. Overall I'd say this product is worth it for the brush alone. The bowl is fine for what it is, wish the lid fit a bit more tightly though.

A quality set for the shaver
Stainless steel shaving bowl and a mirror as a cover. One could take this anyplace as in an airport or a mens room and use the small mirror (which is a quality mirror by the way) and the bowl to whip up a small amount of shaving cream like cremo or other tubes of shave cream. I do not like aerosol cans (too bulky), the brush is badger hair and is weighted. Unlikely to break even if dropped. A small razor and cartridge (like harry or $shave club) can easily fit in a pocket and you can use this kit on the go. All items are of high quality and in the pat I have bought a stainless steel bowl that was too small and lacked a mirror. The mirror comes in handy for close inspection of your face to insure you have shaved all whiskers. Can be kept in a travel bag in your car or keep where you live or take it with you when traveling. Naturally (keep a ALUM stick just in case of a nick). I never rush when shaving and thats how I avoid a nick. You can always reapply a little foam and shave the uncut whiskers. Clean up is easy but the Brush Needs to be set outside to dry thoroughly as its real badger fur.

The bowl alone is worth buying
I like the idea of a brush and bowl combo on a budget. My biggest complaint is the brush in that even once you break it in and have been using it for a while it’ll still shed a few hairs though only 2 or 3 which is manageable. I recently upgraded to a better, higher quality brush but I keep this brush in a travel tube for… well … traveling. The bowl, on the other hand, carries this whole product. The bowl is well insulated. It can hold water as hot as the tap will allow without conducting all of the heat to the outside where your fingers are. And the lid is very useful. On top of keeping dust of your shaving puck, it has an integrated mirror on the underside which is helpful for getting a closer look at your face. This product is good for beginners or for a traveling kit.

A close, comfortable, clean shave!
A warm comfort lather for a close, and clean shave. The wooden cup is attractive, light and sturdy. The brush is firm, and gentle, easy to use and clean.

Badger hair? That’s questionable.
I have been wet shaving for many years, and already own a couple other Badger hair brushes, a Parker and a Progress/Vulfix. That said, I have been using this brush for more than a month now. And I have to say, compared to my other badger brushes, this one is very coarse. It actually feels more like a boar hair brush than a badger. Very stiff and rough, whereas my other brushes are soft and supple. When breaking in a new brush, it is common for the brush to shed a few loose hairs, but that typically only occurs during the first couple uses. As stated above, I have been using this brush regularly for the last month, and with EACH shave, I am still being plagued with massive hair loss! It’s almost as if this brush has alopecia! This just goes to show how cheaply it is made, and how weak the glue is that holds the knot! Now, the faux horn handle is nice and feels good in the hand. Plus it matches the razor/brush stand that I have. (This is the main reason I haven’t returned it yet). As for the included chrome lather bowl- I really like this. It fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, and has high walls, allowing a thick, dense lather to be made without overflow.

Grandpa's brush and shave
This is a very good quality brush and shave bowl. Nice to have a cover for after saving. Mirror lid is handy. Have used for a couple months now and is holding up very well. It reminds me of watching my grandpa and father shave as I was growing up.
