Bertie Blend Bertie is a complex, balanced mix of three different coffees. Equal parts Brazilian, Guatemalan and El Salvador. The Brazilian is a yellow bourbon from Fazenda I.P. near Carmo de Minas which is grown at high altitude, washed and then sun-dried. To this we add a Guatemalan Caturra from La Bolsa Estate near La Libertad in the Huehuetenango region and top this off with the El Salvador Pacamara varietal from Finca Las Quebradas in Chalatenango. The end result is a smooth, balanced acidity with notes of creamy chocolate and nuts, orange and grapefruit. Our Roasting Ethos We roast in a melange meaning that each coffee type is roasted separately and then combined at the end. This allows us to use different roast levels that suit each coffee independently. Whilst this is more complex and time-consuming we believe in highlighting the individuality of each coffee to give the best possible result in the cup. All of our blends are named after our dogs and have characteristics that match their namesake. Bertie is a calm, loveable but incredibly nosey Beagle. If given the chance he will stick his nose into every bag of coffee in the roastery (naturally we do not allow him to do so!) We thought it only fitting, given his level of interest, that we include not two but three different coffees in his blend.
