Great book for classroom use
This book was great! I read it to my class, as we have a student with autism. It was helpful to gain an understanding of what autism is like. It also was good to help guide conversation around this topic with third graders.

Fantastic book for autism families.
Autism is a complicated condition, and my identical twin grandsons each have different characteristics. This book is good for other members of the family too because it’s explanations are clear and helpful.

Love this book about autism.
This book is helpful to children and adults to understand the autistic child. Good for a classroom. I purchased this to help my 5-year old grandson understand his autism. While all children on the spectrum are different, the character in the book describes my grandson perfectly.

Good resource for teachers
This is a good book especially for educators to read! I shared it with my director and we will be having it on hand for other educators to read.

Great for autistic children, typical peers, teachers and adults!
This is one of the first Autism books that I can honestly recommend. There have always been bits or pieces of information or language that didn't sit well with me in others. I will be purchasing a copy for both of my son's teachers from here on out every year, and sending a copy to all family! This is a great book to introduce autism to typically developing peers also, and contains a concise informational section at the end for adults. I love that Julia Cook and Melissa Reinhardt, MD decided to include tip # 9 "Celebrate the wins! When you work with a child on the spectrum, you get to see and celebrate accomplishments with a fullness and satisfaction that others with typically developing children may gloss over or take for granted - being able to buckle a seatbelt, consistently putting on clothes the right way, being able to open a screen door that requires pushing and pulling at the same time, uttering spontaneous, fluid sentences, or hugging with their arms wrapped all the way around your neck! Those are the moments, the glimpses inside, we live for and need to celebrate." We love Julia Cook's books!

Every autistic family should have this
My son was diagnosed as being autistic with moderate ADHD when he was 11. This book was the best thing to explain to start the discussion on what being autistic meant. He loved it and now when people ask him about it he just says "it means my brain is uniquely wired".

Wonderful, easy to understand
We purchased this book shortly after our little boy was diagnosed with ASD. This book is wonderfully written and easy to understand for small children who are just learning about Autism.

Great book
As a mother with two high functioning autistic kids this book is a great way to help talk to them about who they are and some of the things they may feel or think. It's also great to help educate other kids about autism.
