Welcome to the Jungle!
Color: rose pinkFirst Impressions:Firstly, the storage baggie it comes with is a coarse, jute-thick plastic, so this is not a plastic free set. However, the razor itself is exactly as advertised; all metal painted pastel pink. It's quite cute and very sturdy (it's heavy!). This ensures you don't need to use pressure to shave. The weight does all the heavy lifting for you.The handle was shorter than I expected. I guess it seems that way relative to the large size of the razorhead-- so different from disposeables. That will take some getting used to, but I'm someone who loves making big changes to be more eco-friendly.Blades:I purchased a set of Astra blades to use with this safety razor. It's such a relief knowing I won't have to buy razors anymore, and all I have to do is switch out the blades which can be recycled (or even buried/composted). I got 15 for like $3 and change, so I won't need to even buy blades for years with how sparingly I actually use razors.HONEST REVIEW after 1st Use:Installing the blade was easy, just make sure the pieces are stacked correctly and you're good to go. There's no up or down with Astra blades. Just sandwich it between the 2 head components. Before applying Eos Shea Better pomegranate and raspberry shaving cream to my underarms I exfoliated them with my usual soapy sapo (sapo is an african shower mesh-- the best shower cloth/sponge/loofah replacement you could ever dream of). I showered in warm water and wet the blade. These blades are SHARP and the razor is HEAVY, so you have to be very careful. The handle has almost NO GRIP so half of your energy and effort will go to making sure the razor doesn't slip out of your grasp. This is a major flaw, but i didn't drop the razor so I guess that's inconsequential at this point.DO NOT over-shave the area. Go over it maybe TWICE and each time make sure you run the razor under some warm water and reapply your cream. Then go over it again until the skin is smooth.I made the mistake of overshaving and boy did it burn when i washed off at the end! To soothe the skin, just rub on some coconut oil and it fixes up immediately. My pits have definitely been through worse--- they now feel perfectly fine. Coconut oil really is amazing. The results---AN AMAZINGLY close shave! My armpits are so smooth it's hard to believe. 1 because it's just one single blade in the razor, and 2, I didn't think I'd have any skin left intact-- it's a wonder I didn't butcher my poor pits into cold cuts tonight.Overall I am very very pleased with this purchase and feel confident that I'll get better at using this razor over time. After use, I took it apart to let the pieces dry on my dresser.Pros:Eco friendlyCuteEasy to assembleClose shaveCons:Slippery/no gripHeavyLearning curveStorage bag is plasticUpdate:This is truly a wonderful razor. My review went from 3/5 stars to 5/5 stars. After multiple uses, I got the hang of holding, using and caring for this razor. It has become a big part of my self care routine. The more you use it the more gentle the blades become and the less worried you will be about dropping it. Make sure you clean your blade and disassemble the razor after each use. Let everything dry before reassembling for the next shave.I used the razor on my pubic area (the mons only) for some ladyscaping and the results are fantastic.TMI ahead!;I was able to sculpt a delicate strip with precision. My skin has not been smooth like this since pre-pandemic days when I would get waxed! When shaving this area just be sure to exfoliate well beforehand, use a good cream, don't use any pressure. Always reapply cream before passing over the skin. Rinse out the razor after each pass for a truly close shave. The surrounding areas (inner thigh and belly) were easy. I recommend shaving these delicate parts after using the blade at least 4 times prior-- I find that the Astra blades are so good that they're too good when they're new!

Quality razor, reasonable price!
This is my first safety razor and I don't see myself getting a new razor unless this one gets broken/worn out. With how well-built it is, I don't see that happening for many, many years. The handle is grippy without being uncomfortable to hold. I don't feel any slip in my grip, which is impressive given that I typically shave with oil!I prefer to shave while seated at my makeup vanity so I don't have to deal with shower acrobatics. Makes for a more enjoyable and safer shaving experience.Cleaning is slightly more laborious than with a cartridge razor, but it takes maybe 60 seconds and I can actually get every crevice CLEAN, unlike with cartridge razors.A new Venus with 6 refills is $20, and 6 refills on their own is $20. This was $23, came with 10 blades, and a 100 pack of quality replacement blades is about $7. I tend to get about 2 shaves out of 1 blade:- Session One: 1 side of the blade per leg. Disassemble, clean, and flip the blade over when re-assembling.- Session Two: 1 side of the blade per leg. Disassemble, dispose the old blade, clean, insert new blade, reassemble. The learning curve of switching from Venus, which I used for about 25 years, to a safety razor was real- NGL my legs looked like a crime scene the first time I used this! But by my 3rd shave I fully adjusted my angle and pressure and I felt like an old pro again.Smoothest shaves I've ever had, cheapest shaves I've ever had, and no plastic going tinto landfills. I simply will not go back to plastic-filled razors and refills ever again.

Good quality razor
I thought a while about getting a safety razor and finally purchased this one. It had good reviews and was recommended for first-time safety razor users, and with a lower price point yo boot. I purchased the mint green one with the stand, and it's quite pretty. So far I've shaved my legs a few times and my underarms about five times. The first two times I shaved my legs, I got a couple tiny nicks on my knee and behind my knee, mainly from going too fast and using long strokes on these areas. However, last night I shaved with no nicks! I recommend slow, short strokes in these areas. I've had no issues shaving my underarms, though. If you're thinking about making the switch, I recommend it. So far my shaves have been close and leave my skin smooth. I've even noticed that the typical underarm itch that comes a day or two after shaving hasn't occurred since I started shaving with this razor. One extra note: If you use a glass cup to rinse your razor between strokes, treat the glass like it's a fish tank and don't tap on it with your razor! I made the mistake of doing that a few too many times and a little bit of the mint green paint in one of the corners of my razor came off.

Great razor, only minor comments
This was the first safety razor I got since I switched to single blade. I love the packaging that reduces waste, as well as the ruggedness and weight of the razor.I just wish the handle was a bit longer, as I feel I sometimes don't get enough leverage and am in danger of dropping it. Also, the construction means that hair and shaving cream is liable to get stuck in the cracks and make it hard to take the blade out, even with frequently rinsing the razor. These make the razor a little more difficult to handle than disposable razors, but it could just be a learning curve and my newness to single blade.Overall, I recommend, just maybe get one of their other models if you're new!
