Not practicable without a special power cable
I've rewritten this review on 04/2019 to eliminate many unnecessary words, give a product link necessary for using this product to its full potential, and to update it with my testing results. I kept the same rating because it could be a little more straight forward on how to actually get 10W.Let's set this up. To get 10W of power at 12V from a 5V power source will require slightly more power because the conversion from 5V to 12V is not 100% efficient. Using a battery analyzer and an ammeter, I determined the product is somewhere around 86% efficient.So, to get 10W at 12V, you need almost 11.6W, and in this specific case it's about 2.23AI don't have a USB power supply that provides 2.3A at 5V. The best I have is a Samsung 9V/1.7A / 5V/2A. A 1 amp charger won't even give 5W output power. Using a computer USB port will give half that because they generally default to 500mA. The only way to make it work is to use a dual-input cable like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NIGO4NM.This particular charger will provide about 2.15A, but much more than that, the output voltage drops to 3V, which doesn't work. If the converter communicated with the charger to enable 9V output then it would work with that particular charger. But it doesn't.These are the numbers I got in testing, which I determined efficiency (at about 60% load) with:power = voltage * current, efficiency = power out / power in11.88V*.5A / 5.19V*1.34A = 6 / 6.968 = 0.8605

DOES NOT deliver the Amperage specified
It may be sturdy and reliable, but it DOES NOT deliver the power specified in its description.The way I tested this is by trying it with my TC Helicon Voice Live 3 Extreme, which has a power supply that is rated to deliver 12V 1A.It is possible that the peak current this device provides is not enough to start the VL3E but, I am not able to determine this.In other words, the one I received did not deliver. I WANT TO it.NOTE: This product CANNOT be returned through Amazon. You must send a message to HeavenLights. I have done so and eagerly await a reply.

Works well with the right USB hub
It worked as expected except the USB hub didn’t put out enough amps to fully power the telescope mount during slewing. I haven’t yet found the best USB hub to work with it. The plug that came with the AVX mount is threaded, but this one isn’t. It’s a little concerning that it might slide out.

Using to run EJ230 camera from PNY USB batery pack. Works perfectly and it is compact.

The device is fine, but there are some that don't have the large bulky converter.
