This is a great book for bag makers just starting to make leather bags. The bags are made of both leather and fabric. However, you can convert the entire bag into leather. There are a few bag designs that are all leather. Unlike other leather bag books, this book's instructions are easy to follow and requires very few tools. I would recommend this book if you are just starting to make leather bags.It is a beautiful hard cover book and the real size patterns are located in an envelop in the back of the book. So there is no guess work with the patterns.

This is the best book I have purchased for sewing with leather. Everything is explained down to the tinest detail. Now I feel like I can actually try to do this.

i really like it. it’s easy to read and understand. i work almost EXCLUSIVELY with leather, but i can still apply the principles. the patterns included were useful, but i wish they were made from a sturdier paper/material. i understand it’s the best option to keep the thickness of the book down, but i think a slightly higher price and thicker book would be worth having more usable patterns

The book was alright and had some information that beginning leather handbag crafters might find useful. I found it to be more elementary than expected, describing types of leather and thread, for example. I'm way past this stage of handbag making, but others might appreciate. The 3 stars are given for its benefit to ME! Also, the book was torn in two places and looked as if it was used...I paid for a new book. There also weren't many ideas on designs other than some form of tote-type bags, i.e., buckets, drawstrings, etc., but still totes.-- one of the less advanced designs.

Easy to follow

The book isn’t about leather bags…you can’t even say there’s faux suede, there’s canvas with some leather trim…it’s not even 14 bags…a tassel is one design, a luggage tag another there are 2 simple clutches (one with trim added to the first clutch), a change “purse” another…2 of the bigger projects are just variations of each other. Given that a number of patterns are already variations of each other it’s questionable that you need a chapter on variations. I give it credit for having full size patterns (many of the other leather books have patterns that need to be scaled up or just drawings with dimensions) however they are printed back to back so you’ll need to trace and tape together in order to use. The design of the book itself is nice , pictures are clear.
