Got sick of the taste
Ok for a while, then got sick of the taste. We used it up by hiding some in the weekly leftover soup.

Great Taste, Smell, Texture, but would like less mince and more strips
There are many different brands of Textured Vegetable Protein. This one seems reasonably priced, smells and tastes great, has a toasted grain/nut notes, but obviously it doesnt have either. the Texture is great and hardy, and lucky doesnt have that very spongie texture you get with chunks like swada soy chunks. i use a stainless french press with boiling water to rapidly re-hydrate the protein and easily drain the boiling water. The only negatives i have is that swada is cheaper (although it doesnt taste good and is too spongie), and that this tvp has alot of tiny bits that are not strips, they are like mince. i would say like 33% is mince 33% is small strips 20% is medium strips and 13% Large Strips. I was hoping it would be more like 25% large strips, 50% medium Strips, and 15% small strips and 10% mince, but that was obviously not the case, your mileage may vary. I will buy this again because its cheaper then butlers soy curls and it smells and tastes good.

Better than crumbled TVP, perfect macros.
I've been cooking with the more traditional crumbled TVP for a long time - usually I just cook it with rice or chili and it disappears right in. I decided to try these large chunks and I'm very happy with them. The nutrition macros are great, perfect for a vegan/veggie diet, or anybody else who wants high protein low calorie. They are pretty much flavorless so for those who have never used TVP before, it might take a bit of figuring out how to season these properly otherwise they'll just be kinda chewy and bland. I generally cook in my instant pot with other ingredients such as grains, legumes, vegetables, with a flavorful broth for these pieces to soak up and this product is totally perfect for that style of cooking. I'll continue to buy these.

Healthy meat alternative.
Delicious and very easy to make delicious dishes for every meal. I tried frying in coconut oil with a rice flour coating and what a mistake. I almost bit my fingers eating those things. I popped them in the freezer to save but that didn't work either because I just had to put them in the microwave for a few seconds and they were ready to eat again. Love them and will always keep them on hand. Very easy to flavor using your favorite form..liquid, granules or using your favorite spices. Really great product. I have purchased previously, too. I have not been paid for this review. The product is just wonderful. Try it yourself and you will see!

Difficulty of rehydrating
Large chunks do not absorb liquids efficiently. One of my home-helps, Dayanna, wrinkled her nose expressively, and referred to “rabbit food.” Dayanna’s a city girl. Heather, who’s country-bred, retorted that no self-respecting rabbit would eat that stuff.I eventually shifted to TVP hamburger, which could be stirred into a can of mixed vegetables.

Great texture and absorbs marinades effectively
The texture is perfect although I’m not a big fan of the “chicken” label. It is fairly neutral in taste but absorbs whatever marinade or sauce the strips are cooked in. I highly recommend for stews and curries. A good flavour enhancer for it is a generous amount of yeast flakes (which doesn’t add extra salt). I particularly like to use it for Thai curries and biryanis.

Dissolve one to two bouillon cubes, to taste, in about 16 oz hot H2O, and ...
As a vegetarian, I love these. While they have no taste whatsoever, that allows me to flavor it differently each time. Dissolve one to two bouillon cubes, to taste, in about 16 oz hot H2O, and add about 1.5 cups of TVP, let them soak for an hour, and voila, I have a very tasty protein snack to casually much on. Then KEEP REFRIGERATED!! They cheaper than other brands and have a better texture. Chicken??? Why do we/they have to associate it with meat?

Makes a good meal
Overall this was pretty good. I used it to make "chicken" and pesto with assorted veggies and sun dried tomatoes. The texture was pretty good. It took about 45 minutes of soaking to be ready to cook. I added Italian seasoning to the chunks then boiling water: about 3 cups of water to 2 cups of the chunks, then drained it. I thought maybe I hadn't soaked it enough, but once cooked it was just right. The chunks were a bit smaller than I had hoped, but big enough. I might try a different brand, but I would buy this again.

Good
I bought these as an easy protein source that didn't need to be stored in the fridge/freezer. The texture is really nice and we've added this to a few different dishes so far such as cabbage casserole, chilli and stir fries. My boyfriend does most of the cooking and he like to fry it on its own to firm it up before adding it to other dishes. He accidentally burnt it when he made the stir fry tonight and it was still good.
