New replaces the old
I purchased this light to replace a Coast light of roughly the same size that severed me well for over twenty years…unfortunately it was lost on a hiking trail, I’m sure the new owner is pleased…

Great Flashlight
Very pleased with the flashlight, especially for determining if vintage glassware is actually uranium glass.

Sturdy, compact, powerful––accessories cost extra
I’m comparing this to my other name-brand high-intensity compact flashlight. This Coast GX10 550 Lumen flashlight has a strong, bright compact beam as well as an impressively wide soft focus beamThe four light “modes” are just basically low, medium, high and 40 turbo. Alternatively, my other flashlight’s modes are high, low, pulse and fast flashing for various emergency situations. (The Coast brand one does not have a flashing/SOS setting.)Cycling through the options is a bit difficult, since you have to fairly rapidly turn the light on and off (fully) to get it to turn back on in the next available mode. Each mode looks very similar to the next, so it doesn’t seem like it’s doing anything at first.I’d prefer a switch. However, my other brand light makes me cycle through all of the possible functions EVERY time I want to turn it off and that’s incredibly annoying and time consuming. I prefer Coast’s because I can directly turn the light off and the next time I need it, it will default back to the medium setting when I turn it on. Makes more sense to me.The body is sturdy, with great grip areas for use in wet conditions. (Except the battery compartment twist off end––that’s smooth and a bit tricky.)It’s substantial (not easily dented) without being overly heavy.• NOTE: It says it’s a DUAL charging flashlight, but it’s not quite. It comes with 3 regular AAA batteries and can run on just those OR you can buy a ZX557 RECHARGEABLE battery––that one’s not included. If you opt for the rechargeable battery, you’ll also need usb-c cable. Then you can charge the BATTERY with the battery’s integrated usb-c port. (That way you can charge the batteries, not the flashlight, and still be able to use the flashlight using an a different battery.)• However, this would almost double the cost of the flashlight initially. The savings obviously would come further down the road.

Lightweight, inexpensive and bright
This is my second Coast plastic-body flashlight. I need a bright light for late-night dog walks, but I don't need an expensive law-enforcement level light. This one and the last have stood up to nightly use. I keep one in the pocket of each jacket I use regularly.

Brightness 🔆
It is such a powerful flashlight considering its size plus it came to free batteries. You can't beat this deal anywhere else.

Not super bright flashlight
Feels like a nice flashlight and looks apart. It is pretty thick, however the light is not very powerful. I was using this light to see inside of the hood of my car and felt like it did not help. I switched over to my IPhone's light and felt like it was a little stronger.
