Speck MacBook Pro 15" See-Thru Hard Case - Pink

I do everything I reasonably can to protect my computers, and used the Speck clear case for several years. I also got a blue one for my wife's computer. Overall our experience was mixed. It does protect the outside of the Macbook Pro, but it also held dirt particles against the sides of the computer, causing scratches that would not have been there otherwise.Ease of use: It's relatively easy to put on, but can be hard to get off. I've never cracked the screen as some have warned about, but I can see that enough pressure might be used in removing the case, that you could damage you MBP. I also found that you could still access everything on the MBP, that the cases only slightly blocked the full opening of the MBP, and that it didn't appear to hurt the ventilation.Protection: Good for the largest surfaces of the MPB. But I was seriously disappointed by the scratches that result from the dirt that is held against the sides of the MPB by the Speck case. I think that if they used a soft lining (possibly silicone) that this would reduce that. It's hard to say if I would have been able to keep scratches off the largest surfaces of the MBP, but the end result is that I have scratches on my MBP that I wouldn't have had if I had not had the case - and I did make a point of cleaning out the case, but it the difficulty in removing the case hindered that.Build: Both cases have lasted several year. My wife's lost a rubber foot pretty quickly, and parts of hers did crack off. Mine only had a minor crack or two.Expense: Hard to say. I think they're expensive for what they are, but they do fit well and I don't know the real cost of the polycarbonate plastic.Looks: The cases look sharp while still showing the MBP. The different colors are attractive.My personal choice: I've searched for silicone cases for the MBP and only found one sold in bulk from China. What I'm trying now is the  Zagg invisibleSHIELD for MacBook Pro 17-Inch Unibody Full Body (APPMBP172FB)  - I've had it for a couple months and, while it did take some effort to place, so far I'm very happy with it - it seems to protect the MBP with no chance of creating scratches - about the only thing I don't like about the Invisible Shield is that I no longer get the chance to feel the aluminum of the MBP - may sound silly, but I miss it.Bottom line: I would not buy the Speck cases again until they include a softer lining.

After exhaustive research, I decided to purchase this sleeve, and modify it so the screen would open all the way. I knew that I'm the type who would NOT be satisfied compromising the original design.I looked at the shieldzone product, too, but realized it would not protect the corners of the machine, which are most vulnerable to scratching.When the case, came, I used a die grinder, and carefully ground away the areas on the back of the lower part, that touch the upper part. This compromised the design slightly, as now the rear edges of the lower case are gone, so there are two spots on the lower back side of my macbook that are no longer protected. I feel the payoff in performance (being able to open screen all the way) is worth it. I'm looking into protecting those areas using a very thin film, like shieldzone material, but have not completed that part yet.Anyway, the speck case fit very well, has feet so it doesn't slide on the work surface, and is very rugged. Sure, it may be getting a little scratched up - but better the case than the machine - that's what it's for. I suppose they could investigate a different plastic, that would be more scratch resistant. But this is our only choice for now.I did not experience the attraction of lint, dust, hair to the cover as some have reviewed.The case is VERY good looking. People at a mall recently kept staring, and one came up and said 'I did'nt know they sold macbooks in green!'I am happy, and glad someone makes this product. I gave 4/5 because I had to modify it. I wish it came like I made it, but with a film to protect the back corners I exposed when I shaved the material away. Then it would be a perfect design.

Price -Considering what it is(two pieces of hard plastic) it's a little on the pricey side and maybe the thinking is if you have a MacBook Pro then you'll be willing to shell out the extra coin for a little added protection. Not sure I'm cool with that, but then again this is speculation and I don't know what goes into the production, shipping and companies expenses in bringing us this product. You do get a cleaning cloth with the pkg that was not advertised. So thumbs up for the extra effort and gift.Quality and Fit-Seems reasonably hard but don't drop your laptop as I can see where this will crack. It's more to protect against surface scratches, fingerprints etc on the bottom and top of the laptop. This by no means should be the end all of your laptop protection attempts but it's a more than solid start. Fits the MacBook Pro without any effort with no weird or abnormal bulges or defects in the plastics mold. Creating a very sleek looking case for your MacBook Pro.Installation - Takes 15.6 seconds to put on and that's if you're distracted. The hooks or clips that snap into place have a very straight forward application method(good design) and it's so easy a caveman could do it.What it's for? -Top and bottom protection against scratches and non-ideal surfaces you might have to rest your laptop on.Extras -Came with a bright orange cleaning cloth! I used it on the screen and it was perfect for that application.Overall thoughts - I'm so happy with this item I think I'll buy a black case as well. If this company also sells a rubberized version of this case I'd also be interested in taking a go at that as I'm happy with the overall quality of the item, quickness of the shipping and the price just means one night I won't be able to have Sushi. :PI gave this item 5 stars as I think it's perfect as is and overall I'm happy with my purchase.

機能・デザインとも満足なんですが、作りが雑なため ☆マイナス1 です。○ 良い点- MacBook Proの表面を守るに十分な堅さのハードカバーで、機能的には満足。- 軽量で、十分薄く装着後も嵩張らないため、違和感なく使用できる。- 透明な質感が格好よい。×悪い点- 高価な割には作りが粗雑。具体的には、　- 作りの精度が悪いため寸法があわず、本体にひっからない爪がある(これは致命的)。　- カバー・エッジ部分のカットが雑。　- 内側曲面部分に研磨カスがこびりついていた。- 放熱が悪そう(たぶん)。

eval 7 ans apres l'achat: le protege macbook et toujour lail est rayer mais c'est justement sa fonction, se prendre les rayure a la place du maceval d'origine:C'est vrais les mac book ce raye facilement très vite par l'usage que l'on en fait, cette protection fait très bien son job, même si de temps en temps il faut enlever cette protection pour enlever la poussière qui se glisse entre le Mac et la coque.Sinon bonne ventilation, bon design (sobre) bonnes ouvertures pour les diff prise USB et autres.Un seul souci, il n'y a pas d'ouverture pour pouvoir mettre et enleverla batterie, il faut enlever la coque pour faire cette manip.Du coup je fait cette ouverture moi même, au cutter, mais c'est beaucoup moins propre .

Je l'ai depuis plusieurs années, et c'est la coque qui prend tous les coups. Mais elle n'a pas bougé, elle tient toujours, seulement quelques rayures superficielles.J'évite bien sur de faire tomber le portable, et je sais que dessous, c'est comme neuf!

Case was not fit for purpose, reason being it was not the correct product to be used for an aluminium body Macbook pro. However the description indicated that it was compatible for this laptop. WRONG

Schutzhülle hat den ein oder anderen Kratzer vom Gehäuse abgehalten !Für alle die ihren MacBook evt. nach 2-3 Jahren wieder verkaufen wollen ! ;-)
