My husband loves his new roaster
I bought this for my husband, for Christmas, as he loves it. We have freshly roasted coffee all the time.

Bad design. You will be disappointed.
This roaster was very unsatisfactory. There were no instructions at all about how to roast the beans or how to time them, only about cleaning the roaster. I roasted a half pound of beans. The rotating bar pushed the bottom beans around and around on the hot surface roasting them darker and darker while the ones on top hardly roasted at all. Normally for a medium roast, you stop the roasting a minute or two after first crack. But there wasn’t any definitive first crack. The beans on the bottom sporadically reached first crack, and then some in the middle cracked unevenly somewhat later, and I was hearing an occasional crack on the top layer after the bottom was overroasted. If the rotating bar had been sharply wedge-shaped, the bottom beans might have slid over the bar top, equalizing the cooking. As it was, the beans were very unevenly roasted, varying from very dark to very light. I dumped some on a plate for you to see the variation in color.

Works well.
You can control the temperature and time very well. It takes time to get to know the production process and your favourite coffee beans! The variety of coffee bean is also important. I have found that Bolivian coffee beans taste great and roast well. This is a cost effective way to roast coffee at home. Recommended!
