Worked for me
Did a massive amount of research before deciding on these descaling sachets to clean out my gaggia classic - machine had never been descaled in 5 years of moderate use so was expecting to be a big job. Luckily I had a battered and cheap machine (gaggia cubika) to practice on incase it went wrong. I set aside a good few hours to do everything properly. I unscrewed the shower head and soaked it, along with the portafilter and baskets, in hot water with a bit of powder for as long as you dare - I left mine overnight and it came up a treat. I also used an old toothbrush to clean out the hard-to-reach bits on the machine, again with hot water and powder. I dissolved one sachet in water and flushed it through the tank of the machine and 'brewed' it alternately through the group head and steam wand. The instructions recommend rinsing with one tank of clean water but I think this is an underestimate, I did 4 cycles before I felt it was fully clean. This powder did the job really well and I now feel confident to use on my more expensive machine. The first espresso brewed through after descaling was gorgeaus and silky with perfect crema - proof positive that this powder really works.

Always use this product
I regularly descale my coffee machine with Puly descaler sachets and it have now worked for over six years with no problems. I use then use some of the descaler in my kettle which still looks like new too. Great product and reliable retailer via Amazon

Fine, but read your machine's instructions
Even if you live in a soft water area, you should descale an espresso machine about once a year. If you live in a hard water area, it should be more frequently. Descaling will take about an hour or more, so you need to set aside a little time to do it.There are some decentish instructions on the side of the packet, but they are actually the wrong instructions if you have an advanced machine such as a Gaggia Titanium, so it's worth checking the manual, or, if you can't find it, the internet, rather than relying on the sachets. One thing which will apply to most machines that have a steam control is that you need to descale the steam attachment, but you don't need to descale the bit that pushes water onto the coffee itself. That means that -- contrary to these instructions -- you should flush the system through via the steam attachment. These are absolutely fine descaling sachets, and a good buy.

Excellent espresso machine cleaner.
This seems a professional grade descaler. Does the job well without needing several flushes to remove residues after descaling.

Puly Descaler
I've been using Gaggia descaler for years but my local shop no longer stocks it so I had to shop around. The Gaggia descaler is a powder and comes in sachets - you dissolve the contents and pass through the machine. It's a bit fiddly and time consuming but I've had no problems -my Gaggia runs sweetly. I live in an area where where the water is soft - so, minimal limescale. Even so, I still descale every six months to keep my Gaggia in good working order. I went over to Puly as they are the same product as the Gaggia sachets - just different brand. I did try a liquid descaler but wasn't impressed with the result. The Gaggia/Puly product really cleans out the system thoroughly so I am sticking with it. The Puly cleaner comes in ten sachets size and is much better value than the Gaggia offering which comes in three sachet size. Recommended.

Excellent
Had an espresso machine die on me before it was pointed out to me that the internals of these machines need regular cleaning. I was surprised as I live in a very soft water area and never had to do that for any other devices such as kettles or washing machines.Fixed the coffee machine by completely stripping it down and cleaning out every part of it laboriously and painfully. The I came across this PULY descaler. I've been using this on a periodic but regular schedule since then and never had a problem since that date. This is obviously doing the job very well.As an aside I had a rusty part from my lawnmower that had seized. I soaked the part in a solution of this for a couple of days, and magic, the rust dissolved and the part was almost as good as new.If you have an espresso machine, you shouldn't be without this.
