Licorice is a herbaceous plant up to 1m50 tall and growing in bushes. It is found in hot countries. The most used part is the root or rather the underground stem called stolon. This root is very sweet. The ancient Greeks named it Glycyrrhiza from the words glukos, "sugar" and riza, "root".
