Learn To Play Bass Guitar: A Beginner's Guide to Bass Guitar

This book is very well-written and easy to understand. It contains a lot of very helpful information. But, the book is smaller than I thought it would be. By "smaller", I am speaking about the physical dimensions. When closed the book is 6.5 inches wide, 8 inches "tall" and about 1 inch thick. The circular binding takes up almost 1 inch of the width. As a result, the actual pages are small: 5.75 inches wide by 7.6 inches "tall". As a consequence, a lot of the text is small. If your vision is not very good, you might have difficulty reading much of the text. Other than that, this is a great book. It has a hard cover with a wire binding which allows the pages to lay flat. The paper is of high quality and it seems to have some type of coating on it (like a new deck of playing cards). I like this book and I'm glad I bought it.

I was expecting something very flimsy and dated for the price ($4.76 used). However, it is in very good shape and hard bound. It is a spiral bound book, but the hardcover wraps around it. I haven't started using this book yet, as I don't have a bass guitar yet. However, from perusing the book it looks quite easy to follow and user friendly. Probably will not make me a Jason Newsted, but probably no book could do that. For my purposes (playing for myself, doing something with my hands that I will enjoy), this book is terrific.

Great Great Book, but the print is too small for an old guy like me. I have played music for over 30 years and wanted to learn the bass. Great book but the text is sooooo small as well as the charts are small makes it hard at beginning. But with that I would highly recommend it.

Bought this for our son. So far it is turning out to be a good starter book for him. He likes the spiral for turning pages. The factual info on different instruments and the set up of the lesson/ music.

This is the book you want to get when you are starting out to play bass. It's really well done, organized, and has the information you need to get going. No fluff, just excellent details, and exactly the specific items you need to begin to play bass. I'm so grateful I found this book. You will be too.

For me it seems as if the book assumes some knowledge in notes and tabs, which I don't have. Does not explain the basics god enough for someone who picked up the bass guitar as a frist instrument.
