Good price, function, material
Nice cooler, perfect size for my boat application. Easy to tie down with the inserts and holds ice ok for my needs. 1 day in the sun ice retention is plenty

Only one problem
Only one problem The advertisement said that it would keep the ice up to five days. It does not. It keeps it for about two days, with a lot of melting. I don’t know what the manufactures special circumstances were, but I tried this twice. Other than that, is sleek, good looking and ergonomic.

Great Cooler
This is a great cooler. My ice last days no problem. Only wish it had wheels when carrying down to the beach.

Just the right size with features some others are missing
I spent a lot of time researching coolers. Mainly looking for something to keep in my car since I am on the road most of the day for work. Was mainly interested in the Roto Molded coolers for maximum ice retention. The first cooler I bought was a Yeti Roadie 15 qt, but decided to look for something a little bigger but that had some of the features that the Roadie had like quick release latches vs the silicone straps for securing the lid, and had to have a water drain, as several of the smaller size coolers don’t have the drain, and finally the Yeti has a nice shoulder/hand carry strap that most coolers in this size range don’t have, the Cobalt doesn’t have a strap but it has a strap style carey handle on each side and a place to attach a tie down strap which I could easily thread a shoulder strap of some type through. The point is, this Cobalt cooler seems to be just the right size for many applications. Fast forward to it arriving, at first glance I was somewhat disappointed in the quality of the cooler and actually thought maybe I had received a used one that was being resold as new. What’s not noticeable in the pictures is all of the fine swirl marks or scratches that are all over it inside and out, along with an oily or greasy film on it. Maybe it’s just something that happens in production, it was also nicked in a couple of places. Let’s just say the Yeti didn’t have any of these issues. I decided to submit for a replacement to give it another try to see if the next would be better, but pretty much the same thing, and this replacement had some discolorations areas on the back, and the lid didn’t seem to sit just right before closing the latches, so I was even more disappointed with the replacement, and will be returning the replacement. I don’t think these are manufactured in the USA, and although so many things are not, I’ve seen much better overall quality in other non USA made products. Another thing to note is the tag on the cooler says up to 5 days ice retention but the details on Amazon says 3 days, which is it? With all that being said, I placed 3 medium frozen ice blocks in the bottom to cover the entire bottom surface, and placed an 8 lb bag of ice in the cooler and closed it. Its been 48 hours and there is somewhere near 40% of the ice still remaining so I anticipate at 72 hours there still might be a little remaining or pretty close to all melted. Didn’t put any beverages or anything which would have filled the cooler up and possibly held ice for longer. I put an old digital thermometer inside the cooler and it’s showing about 45 degrees inside (not sitting in the ice). What really matters is it seems to be holding ice and temp pretty good, temp the cooler is in is 65-70 degrees. I usually don’t write such long or detailed reviews but hoping it helps somebody that spent as much time searching for just the right size and options as I looking for. Even with the imperfections I’m leaning towards keeping it for the size, features and price vs. some of the more expensive brands. Overall it seems like it will function as it is intended to, seems pretty durable, and very simple to use. Pictures in review show the size vs the Yeti Roadie 15 qt. If half stars were an option I’d give it 3.5/5. If you are on the fence, just order it since you can send it back if you don’t like it!

Short term storage
The cooler is attractive and serves a useful purpose as a stool in our RV. However it's cold storage capacity is limited to at best 36 hours. We started with a cold cooler and cold drinks. The cooler was indoors and not in the sun. The ice we added lasted 36 hours before becoming cold water. This was a 3 week test and the performance was consistent.
