Casio PCR-T500 Electronic Cash Register

We bought this for our graphics and T-shire store. We didn't want to spend a lot of money on a cash register since later on we will buy an actual point of sale system. Once I got the downloadable app installed and working on our computer it was pretty easy to use to program/reprogram the cash register. We are still learning how to use all of the functions on the register but so far not many issues. The only complaint that I have is when you input a PLU you are limited to the amount of characters that you can use for the name. It restricts the number of characters in the name items and then you have to figure out how to abbreviate in a manner which you will have to understand later. The other issue is that you can (at least as far as I can tell) only have two tax codes programed into the machine at one time. It would be nice to be able to add more. It is a fairly light weight machine which is great for us since we will be taking our graphics business to car shows and different events. Over all it is a great machine for the money. Word of advise: Down load the software and use it to program the SD card file. Also, you will need to go into the machine and perform a back-up of the file in order to have it on the SD card. It will have to be on the SD card in order to use the software to program it.

When I first got the register I couldn't believe how much it can do. You can do almost any kind of sale on here! The receipts are very good quality. You can program up to four lines of large text and a image on it. One of my favorite parts of the register is that there is seven modes. The silver keys can go to two modes and the black keys can go to all of them. The modes are: Off, Refund, Transaction, Program, and three reporting modes. You can do about 20 different reports!

Great working Good for small business

I would have given it a 5 star rating except the drawer latch has a problem catching sometimes so you have to close it 2 sometimes 3 times to catch. Not every time...just occasionally. If you close the drawer slow it will catch every time. I can see this being a problem when you are working with the public and don't want your drawer gaping open. Also the gear mechanism doesn't touch the paper roller to make the paper roll up tight. More thought needs to go into how to make the roller touch better or put gear teeth like the old models, but this can be a problem if you are a busy shop. The thermal paper is not strong enough to make the roller go on its own. I understand holding down costs but not to the point of losing a quality product. So much more plastic than the older machines. We are a Small Auto Repair Shop in the mid west. I was concerned about the capability of this cash register for the price compared to all the other cash registers for so much more money. This one fit the bill. Very easy to set up and very easy to use. I really like the quiet operation of this machine. I went with Casio because that is what I was replacing and it was a very good cash register. All the keys are similar to the older model so there was NO training after replacement. I would recommend this to other shops. Has many more options than what is necessary for us, but for the price, a good machine.

This is my first review I have ever written. I purchased this register less than a year ago. Everything works perfect until one day the date and time decided not to change. I was asked to send back since they couldn’t trouble shoot it over the phone. This is what was emailed to me, “Due to the fact that we can no longer obtain parts from the factory for this product model, your product will be replaced with an equivalent model or a model of equal value if exact model is not available. Your original product will not be returned.” By replacing, they want me to pay for another machine that cost more than what I paid for. When I called Casio, they told me they found corrosion on one of the board and found signs of varmint in it. I asked them if there’s corrosion or bugs in it, would there be other things that are not going to work beside the date and time? They said they don’t know. I felt this is just an excuse not honoring their guarantee. I am going to be using Royal from now on. My first Royal lasted 14 years, 2nd 5 years, and the one I have right now is going on 2 years. It is on the same counter as the Casio. I really like the way Casio operates but not there customer service nor there warranty. FYI, Casio charge you for support after 1 year, Royal doesn’t.

i've been using this register daily for 7 weeks now. it suffers from the common problem of trying to cram too many features into an inexpensive device. the manual is too long and complicated to quickly figure anything out (although i give it thumbs up for at least including an actual manual instead of a pdf download). while it offers all the options i would love to be using, i can't figure out how to use most of them. while it's nice to have all those features, i would probably buy a simpler model next time since i don't actually use any of them. and, as another reviewer noted, the drawer constantly sticks when opening and closing.

Nice cash register. It will do way more than I need, but certainly fulfills my small office needs. It is real lightweight. Sometimes it feels like it will tip over it is so light. U really like the end of day "x-reports". The x-report is nicely detailed and easy to track.

This unit replaced a very old register. I really appreciate the number of sales categories it supports. I strongly recommend you do the programming with the PC software. Programing from the register is painful. The only down side is that the device had trouble recognizing the SD card I used for programming. It just took a few attempts but it did struggle a little bit. I also like the ability to customize the names of the sales =categories as well as being able to have our logo print on the receipt. I have cut down on manual sales forms because the register receipt now contains detailed information about the transaction along with our logo and store information. No regrets.

El equipo es muy completo y cumple con mis expectativas. Excelente relación entre el costo y funcionamiento. El soporte en línea es puntual y muy acertado. Lo más importante: muchos espacios para texto en el ticket, descripción y precio unitario por producto adquirido que se muestra en el ticket, así como los reportes x y z que son de gran utilidad.

A bit tough to program for Canada, however there are video's on YouTube for that...

Es la caja que estaba buscando, ya que quería una caja que me diera la opción de imprimir copias de los tickets y está lo hace, solo hay que meter un código para configurarla

Purchased two of these to replace ancient ncr's Staff love them, they seem sturdy and well built, memory card slot is an added bonus.
