I recently tried this candle making kit for the first time, and I'm quite pleased with it. It includes most of the essential tools you'll need, though you'll still have to purchase wax, wicks, and containers separately.

Presented in a plain white cardboard box this candlemaking kit has the basics for starting some candle making, when I say the basics there are no wicks, no wax and no containers to make candles in, what is in the box is 900ml stainless steel pouring pot, an electronic hot plate to melt the wax, a silicone anti heat mat, 2 stainless steel wick holders, 1 spoon, 1 thermometer.You put your wax to be melted into the stainless steel pouring pot and put the pot on the hot plate, put in the thermometer and when it gets to 180 degrees Fahrenheit you can add dyes and or essential oils, put your wick in in the middle of a container that is going to be your candle, keep the wick straight with a wick holder while you wax cools, when wax has cooled to 135 degrees Fahrenheit you can pour the wax into your candle container and wait for it to go solid and then you have one homemade candle.The electronic hot plate has 5 temperature settings , it heats up quickly and has a power light that goes on while the plate is heating and off when the plate is at the temperature you selected.The pouring pot is food grade so could be used for coffee etc if you are not using it for candles and the same with the hot plate you can use it making tea & coffee etc and would be great for camping if you have an electric pitch.

When i look at a candle making kit, such as this one with a hot plate etc, i would expect a "starter" wicks to be included. I have plenty of wax left over from pillar candles and wanted to remelt them to make a new candle.this has a jug, thermometer. spoon and a hotplate. it does NOT however contain any containers to pour your wax into or has any wicks or anything else.that said the hot plate is just a standard cooker you can also use to heat other things like milk to make hot chocolate one! (obviously NOT using the included steel pot for the wax)but i do question the quality of the hot plate, it seems very cheaply made to be honest. but to be fair it seems to do the job!i just wish it came even with 1 or 2 small jars and a couple of wicks as a starter, that said it is a decent kit especially for this price!got plenty of lavendar oils i can use now ive made a couple from left over wax, its my first time making candles, but i ran out of wicks and jars (i used them cheesecake dessert jars you get with some cheesecakes in the shop) but been after a kit like this for a while as i had over 26 2 inch tall candles going to waste as they were pillar candles and couldnt really be used

A good kit with all the bits and pieces you need to start making candles except as noted above the wax and wicks.The hotplate was surprisingly good and I am now in trouble for co-opting it to make Turkish coffee with my Cezve pot as it is the ideal size unlike the rings on my induction hob.Good kit for anyone wanting to start candle making but they need to be willing to defend their hob.
