Classroom Gems: Games, Ideas and Activities for Primary Music

I've been doing Kodaly-based music lessons in primary schools for a couple of years following an excellent course I attended, but I'd begun to get bored with using the same resources AND so had my pupils (especially in the Upper Junior years.) This book is great if you've got an idea of concepts you want to work on but are running stale on interesting ways to present them. A real pick n' mix treat. Even better when you go to the linked website (see p8 of Introduction section) which has all the resource sheets referred to in the book for you to download/copy as a free teaching resource...it is fab! No more tearing my hair out over what to put in lesson plans, in fact, the problem now is avoiding putting too much in!!!

Brilliant book. Although I did need to spend a long time colour-coding this book into age and level appropriate activities as they are not organised in a particular order. Also a lot of the music needed for the book you have to use youtube for or spotify as there are no CDs or weblinks. Great use for the primary music teacher's bookshelf if you ever need some inspiration!! :)

I am always looking for new modern ideas for my music classes. This book is fantastic and has been a lifesaver when doing my lesson plans !! Really modern ideas and easy instructions to understand. You don't need to be a music genius to use in the classroom. Love it ! Great buy.

A travesty. A slightly old-fashioned music scheme, the resources for which were unobtainable without further purchase. Sad, for two reasons. First of all, there were many decent activities from a talented author. Secondly, the book does not deliver what the publisher claims it can do on the tin. I returned mine. But if they let me have the necessary music, then I would buy it again.

Disappointed thought it would be A4 and is considerably smaller and is a very busy overloaded page and ideas that cannot be read quickly.

This book is full of excellent music lessons which are packaged in a fun way.It should also kick start your own new ideas if you're struggling to keep your approachfresh.
