My daughter likes to wake up slowly in the morning. She loves her quiet time…especially on the week-ends when she can pick up a favourite book and read quietly for a little while. During the school week we often wake up late so she doesn’t have the time to take for these quiet moments and it puts our day into a real tailspin for a while. The “Candle Day by Day Bible” is a short daily reading of a Bible story that is the perfect way for my daughter to sneak away those quiet moments she needs each and every day.The “Candle Day by Day Bible” by Juliet David, is a beautiful spiral-bound desktop calendar style book that lets you share the stories of the Bible with your little ones each day.The book stands on it’s own, perfect for displaying on a desk or counter. There are 365 stories from the Bible covering the Old and New Testaments. It starts at the story of creation with “In the beginning” and ends with Paul arriving in Rome in “Rome at last!” I find that this book isn’t so much I feel much as a collection of simplified Bible stories.Each page is numbered from 1 through 365 and features a story for each day of the year. The spiral binding makes it easy to flip the pages over each day. I would have liked these pages to have dates on them like “November 29” instead of a number like “333” to make it a true calendar.With the exception of the historical Biblical names and places, each word is carefully chosen with your little ones in mind. Each retelling is a few paragraph long, which are a perfect length for little ones who want to learn a little more about their faith each day. I wish each page had an accompanying scripture. This would help anyone who wanted to learn more about the story for that day.If you have read “Candle Day by Day: Walk with Jesus” then the illustrations will be familiar to you. There are several images shared between the two books. The images are beautiful and fit each story perfectly.The “Candle Day by Day Bible” is a wonderful way to share your faith with your little one each an every day.It would make a beautiful gift this holiday season.I received a complimentary copy of “Candle Day by Day Bible” from Kregel Publishing in exchange for my review.
