Great for beginners
This set is a great introduction to gouache, especially if you don't know how to mix colors. I attached a photo of a recent painting so you can see the quality of the paints. As far as I can tell (I'm a complete gouache beginner) the paints apply easily with tons of pigment and dry smoothly just as advertised. My only sadness is that there isn't more of the paint, and after three paintings (2 of them were forest paintings) I am running low on some greens.

Highly recommend for people who use this medium alot
Great product for someone who uses this medium frequently but if not I don't recommend because every few days you have to open it, spray it and mix each color so it doesn't dry out wether your using them often or not its alot of upkeep for a just once in a while medium and if you don't close the lid correctly the paint molds. Now if you use this paint quite often then YES ITS VERY WORTH it because the colors are so beautiful and vibrant and make the most beautiful art

The learning curve of Himi Gouache
My art and life has changed because of himi gouache. With a big learning curve comes beautiful rewards. So! This is my second himi pallette. The first one was smaller. I had a tough time at first learning the textures. Some colors have amazing pay off, others you need to layer. For example, the pink/magenta type colors you're going to need to lay on bare paper first. If you use them over another color you are not going to get the pay off you're looking for. Each color has its own quirks so it's good to test on a separate piece of paper how the colors interact. I also had the INFAMOUS molding problem on my first pallette. For around 3 months it did great ! I even took it on a plane from Florida heat to mountain cold. No problems. Until .... I moved to a town with very mineraly water. This totally destroyed my pallettes " ecosystem" and the mold caught fast. There was no saving it. I saw the himi spray but I wanted an alternative. After some digging I found DISTILLED WATER, alcohol, and an antifungal powder was working for everyone else. I've been going just distilled water and alcohol so far ( not much alcohol ) and it's working great. This pallette also like a sourdough. It needs weekly maintance. So Everytime you use your paints ( depending on the texture you want ) you need to remoisten. I like my paints kind of creamy cause I use a lot of water on my brush. So open it, no spray. After use spray the whole thing down very well!!! If you take a break from it, give a good spray about once a week. Two weeks is okay too(: Overall this is SUCH a BANG FOR YOUR BUCK. This is great for any level of experience. Yes there are a lot of premixed colors but once you really start using it and getting comfortable you see a need to mix your own which has been so fun for my color theory journey. Some people do complain about streakiness.... I noticed you really should be using their brushes/synthetic watercolor brushes/acrylic brushes. Layering really helps with that too. It's just like any other paint, has it's quirks. I highly recommend it though! Especially if you do watercolors. This has added a lot of diversity and problem solving for my mistakes :p also Daniel smith has a small gouache series as well and works well with these/high pay off. Good luck!

Great value set of paints
Very fun set of paints for the artists in your life - including tons of color variety and gouache is really fun to use! Vivid colors like acrylic but blends like water color. Many hours of painting for my teenagers and my husband.

OH MY GOSH! THIS SET IS AMAZING!!!!!
Getting this set was my first experience gouache and this set is amazing! So many colors! Fun and fabulous! I love this set and so easy to use! These apints can be thinned to a almost transparent consistancy, but right out of the pack, the paint is quite opaque. The case is so durable and sturdy! I highly recommend this set to anyone who wants a top quality set of paint to start with and use. I love this set and this may be my new passion in painting.
