The Kent & Stowe Long Handled Scarifying Rake is ideal for encouraging healthy lawn growth by: removing thatch, moss and dead grass cuttings; opening up the soil surface to improve airflow and the uptake of nutrients and water; preparing the ground for sowing new seeds and cutting through topsoil. Use after mowing the lawn and prior to putting down lawn seed. The rake has been hand crafted and offers traditional quality. The oscillating head allows the rake to glide over the lawn with ease. It has 10 sharp, high-quality, polished stainless steel tines, which offers excellent corrosion resistance and long lasting performance. The length of the rake is perfect for easy working and eliminates the need for bending. The handle is made from beautiful ash wood that has been tapered for comfort. Scarify in September with a British product that I expect to last
Scarify in September is the lawn care advice. My lawn isn't great but I've been working on it all year (this is my 3rd lawn tool purchase) and it's looking better than last year or the start of this year. I've done some committed and half-hearted scarifying in the past using a conventional tooth rake and a lawn rake. However, the proper tool for scarifying is a scarifying rake. This rake is well made with a substantial and thick wooden handle and a scarifying section made in stainless steel that shouldn't rust.In use I could see the scarifier was cutting deeper into my lawn than conventional rakes/lawn rakes and it was hard work. I found, perhaps due to my lawn not being particularly level and dry, that on occasion the rake bounced over the lawn a bit rather than cut into it. Nonetheless a large amount of debris was produced which I used my mower to collect and deposit into its green box (I mowed before scarifying as you are supposed to).So, a good product, purpose designed and that I expect to last.

Spares availability.
I did not buy mine on Amazon but it fell apart today while in use. The screws which allow the mechanism to rotate fell out, I managed to find one in my grass but the other has disappeared. Any idea where I might source a replacement screw?
