I'm surprised how low the reviews are for this product. I normally don't review things like this, but I hope people coming from the same place I am aren't too put off by them to give it a try. To be sure, I'm coming at this as a long time jerky and dried sausage lover that doesn't know what biltong is "supposed to be like." I also rather like the flavor of cloves, which don't dominate but come through strongly enough to be polarizing.What I don't like at all are the long term health risks of eating cured meats, and this seems like a great replacement. I picked up my first bag of this during a road trip because it was among the healthier options and split the better part of an entire bag with my driving companion over two days.No, they won't blow you away with how juicy they are relative to cured dry sausage. I'm sure there are traditional or locally made products that are better. The price is also a bit high relative to even healthier snacks like nuts and these bags might be too large if you're not sharing them among a couple people. They're calorie dense - that's the point - so you don't want to add these to an already complete diet if you're trying to lose or maintain weight.Nonetheless, these have become a great go-to snack food and easy addition to lunches for me. I've bought several bags of both the piri-piri and green chile and am quite pleased. In terms of price per weight/calorie, these large bags are quite competitive based on the other offerings I've seen on Amazon.It's a fair criticism to say that these don't quite match your taste or texture expectations - and I do look forward to tasting the competition - but I honestly find many of the aggressively critical reviews baffling.

I've been eating Stryve Biltong for a few months now and I've tried almost every flavor at this point and I must say they've all been wonderful. Biltong is like Jerky on nutrional steroids! Every flavor is high in protein and low on carbs making this a very Keto friendly snack that I love to eat after a heavy weightlifting session. The flavors are much more muted than your stereotypical jerkies which I think is nice because you can taste the beef flavor along with your choosen flavor without being overpowered with sweetness or spice. This product is still high in sodium because while it's not technically jerky it's still a dried meat, so if high blood pressure is a concern for you then I'd just be conscious of your servings sizes.

So I have tried alot of biltong, traditional and the sticks. I generally love Stryve brand biltong, but this particular bag of biltong sticks was waay OFF. It was awful. I had my husband try it too to see if it was just me, nope, he also said it was bad. I think it was a bad batch, the sticks were extremely dry to the point of crumbling, stale taste, they overall, just looked bad, old even. Some sticks had casings that were so hard they were not edible, I had to spit it out. VERY DISAPPOINTED in the bag of peri peri I received. I'll never purchase again. Biltong is not cheap, I expect a better product for that price.

I am not familiar with biltong, except for the fact that I'm on a ketogenic diet and people have recommended this product. I am also not familiar with this flavor profile. Product arrived on time and in excellent condition. No mold, or other issues. I bought the one pound bag and there are a lot of sticks in there. They are moist and meaty. I'm keeping the bag in the fridge, as I think the bag actually states to do so. It's been open for a week and no molding issues. The flavor is also decently spicy. The one spice that sticks out are the cloves. Cloves are just a strong spice and that's what happens to stick out to me but these sticks are not overly spiced with clove. Spicy with a bit of heat. Good flavor, good texture, very satisfied with my purchase and would purchasing again. I feel it's a good value for my money.*****UPDATE***** I received these sticks on February 5, 2020. It is now March 8, 2020 and these sticks have no signs of mold, etc. They have been in my fridge the entire time in their original sealed bag. I check them everyday for issues because so many people seem to have issues. I think they must have a defective bag with a small hole somewhere. No issues, still as delicious as on February 5, 2020! :)

Order the 4 pack of the spicy peri peri. It's alittle pricey but it was a tasty healthy snack. Ate 3 packs and it was great. Grabbed my last pack tonight and was getting ready to reorder until I ripped it open and saw it was giant ball of mold. I put it back in the bag and sealed it back close. Picture of the back of the bag attached. Clearly they leave alot to be desired in Q/A for a product that is so expensive. If you order make sure you check all the packs when they come in.UPDATE: stryve took the issue very seriously. Within a day of reporting it they had gotten back with me to gather details to fix their issue and also made me whole. A great resolution to an avoidable situation. Updating my overall score from a 1 to. 3 to reflect this. If the jerky was not moldy in the first place a clear 5 of 5

If your family is anything like mine, we are living in the car and have very little time between each activity. These sticks are the easiest snack to pack. We’ve tried different snacks similar to these and they go stale super quickly, they have tons of sugar and weird ingredients that I can’t pronounce. I don’t get this mom thing right all of the time, but I can get this snack thing right. :)

My husband loves these and is trying to make them last as long as he can. He says it’s a struggle not to just sit down and keep eating them. We will order these again.

The product is really really good. Compared to any other jerky out there the amount of protein you get per serving is fantastic. The texture is different which is understandable considering the process to make it is different. Overall I am very happy with the product and will be trying other flavors soon. I got the Peri Peri flavor and it’s got a tiny bit of heat after eating a few. Delicious.
