Trabo Cristal Casserole, 1.25 L, 30 x 22 x 11 cm

Decent microwave ware to cook vegetables in seems hard to come by nowadays and we like these dishes. Unfortunately despite the manufacturers' claims that they are very robust we beg to differ. Perhaps it is due to the dishwasher but we find they crack readily and in one case the lid lost the top of it's handle.But we are happy to buy more as these seem to be the only ones on the market apart from those saucepan type ones.

This item was to replace an old microwave casserole that had cracked through use.This model had vents in the lid which the older one did not have so hopefully it will not crack.The only downside is that the entire instruction manual was in Italian -surprising as the item was from a UK based company.

The actual casserole dish was as illustrated and described, but the packaging and information leaflet was Italian from a firm called TRABO SRL in Milan, so not quite sure what happened as it was described as coming from Eco-Chef. It is a good quality dish and what I was expecting.

I have used the casserole only once so far and will have to wait to see how it stands up to wear. It looks good at the moment, but I have had others in the past, similar in appearance which have 'crazed' with use.

Can't comment about the longevity but I had a rice steamer in the same brand, which lasted over 5 years! Used it several times for baked beans and heating up pasta sauce and it washed up beautifully in the dishwasher. No staining or smell left in the plastic that can be a problem with cheap plastics and no catching on the bottom of the pan during heating. It's surprisingly roomy, I was worried it would be too small but swallowed a couple of tins of baked bins no problem. Has very useful little handles on the side and the knob on top of the lid stays cool. Best of all, unlike pyrex dishes it's light and easy to handle and can go on the top shelf of my dishwasher! A word to the wise folks, don't try to use it for making porridge, it bubbles over very quickly!

Bought this to replace my original pizza stone. Although I had to heat my original stone for 20mins this one just not cook the underneath. Exactly as expected really. Just thought I would give it a go for the price. On the other side well packaged and fast delivery.

It's okay but not exactly microwaveable for a long time.
