works well, sturdy
This is made of metal, so it is durable, it takes a little trying to install, others have good suggestions to make that easier. The only reason for four stars is something is slightly out of round here, I don't know if it is my filters, the camera itself or this adapter. When I screw filters on, they go on easy, then tend to want to bind, then easy again, like I said, I don't know if the adapter is even the problem. Other than that the thing works great.

Finally an adapter ring I can count on!
I needed a 67mm adapter ring for my Canon Powershot SX50 so I could mount a UV filter (for lens protection etc.) and a lens hood for the primary purpose of shooting video in mid-morning light. I first purchased a plastic adapter ring that easily broke the second time I used it. I went back to Amazon looking for the same thing made of metal and found this product. It is precision-made, fits snugly at the front of the camera lens and after being put on correctly, only comes off when intentionally removing it. It readily accepted my UV filter and lens hood (see picts.). The camera lens still zooms in and out as it should. For about the same price as a plastic one, this product in great! I like how the manufacturer stamped the side of the ring with the size and the camera it fits. It reads: SX40/50 67mm.

It is better than the plastic ones but is more difficult to ...
This is a metal adapter. It is better than the plastic ones but is more difficult to attach to the camera. However because it is metal and maintains it shape it is easy to screw filters onto it. With the plastic one I had It was somewhat difficult to screw the filter but it was easier to screw the plastic on the camera. So I purchase one adapter plastic adapter per filter. While on vacation the adapter hit the car door and cracked. I had to supper glue the adapter together a number of times during that 3 weeks. That is why I choose to try the metal one even though the reviews talked about it being harder to get on.Just be careful you are not into the bayonet connector on the camera all the way and then apply the pressure require to attach it. Once it is attached you will find that all of your filters will screw on and off easily. I have a UV, polarizer and some neutral density filters that I sometimes use.

Works great for the Canon Powershot SX40HS
I gave this adapter ring 5 stars because it is metal and seems impossible to break. My previous adapter ring was plastic and my filters are metal ringed. The plastic ones just don't hold up to the changing of filters, especially if you are an avid photographer. This was not that difficult to install. Some of the reviews state that they had difficulty. If you line it up with your lens and then push and turn, it goes right into place with no problem. Removing isn't difficult either. The only thing that I would suggest, if you are removing a filter, hold the adapter ring firmly with one hand and then unscrew the filter with the other hand - this way the adapter ring stays connected to your camera and doesn't come off with the filter.

Great Filter Adapter
I like this! it's actual metal and not some plastic that will eventually break or get the threads stripped, bought this for my Canon Powershot SX530 HS it's a little difficult to remove smoothly as it has some effort to twist it off without ripping your lens out, it fits snuggly and the threads are smooth worth it if you plan on picking up some nice ( non plastic ND or Polarizing filters, buy glass Filters )

Went from being "a chick with a camera" to a semi-professional with a twist of the wrist
This replaces a plastic adapter ring that I returned because it wouldn't fit my Canon PowerShot SX530. I could tell it would work just by looking at it: there were indentations that hadn't been on the plastic one (though I twisted it on and off several times to make sure). Now the 67mm lens filter and camera hood kit I ordered to adds a professional polish to the image I project to my clients and subjects as well as to my photos!

Perfect to connect cap or filter to canon s520
Perfect for my canon s520. I bought the camera used on amazon without a cap I bought an OED cap and, to my surprise, it doesn’t snap on....you need this adapter. Weird. So I bought this one based on the reviews that this metal was more sturdy than the other plastic ones. It was! This is awesome, and inexpensive... no complaints from me.

Brilliant generic product
My wife has a Canon PowerShot SX540HS camera, and we needed to protect the lens with a Skylight filter - but the camera needs an adapter fitted to the front of the lens - the Canon part is very expensive, so when I saw this available for a fraction of the price, I snapped it up. This was the correct decision - this adapter is made to a very high standard, fits perfectly, and holds the filter in place on the front of the camera securely. This is a very high quality part, beautifully manufactured and packed beautifully. I have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone looking for this type of adapter, and the company clearly has very high standards and can be unconditionally recommended. Thank you so much!

Excellent well made item. Highly recommend.
Excellent and well made item. The fit is perfect and far superior to Canons own (very!) expensive plastic version. Highly recommend.

Buy the original from Canon!
I just received this; it looked ok, and went on easily. The nightmare came a second later; trying to take it off actually started to shave off parts of plastic from the outside of the lens! I am not terrified I have ruined my camera, and can't bring myself to try to take this thing off to assess the damage. Even though it is installed 'correctly' (note no instructions were received so I followed the ones from Canon for the adapter) it rattles, and simply can't risk taking it off. This company should be liable for the damage they have made to multiple cameras as detailed in the reviews here.
