I use them for a compressor built and they welded pretty good, but for the tank drain had to cut them so they didn't go to far in and prevent water from dragging

Only giving this 4 stars, How I wanted to use these is to put the thick end against the a steel tank and weld it on (thicker more metal right?).. Then thread a 1/2" NPT pipe into the thinner end. Well the threads did not go all the way out on the thinner side, I had to buy an NPT tap set (I should have had one anyways), and run the 1/2" tap through both sides a few times to make some new threads. I think it will work fine, I had a nice brand new 1/2" NPT nipple and it would thread it beautiful to the thick side, but could not get it started when I got it to the thin side. Oh well, still worked for what I needed, just needed some sweat put into it.

The one I received has a zinc coating or it’s galvanized. It’s not easily weldable and does not look like the raw steel in the product image/description.
