The stainless one didn't work for me, but this type did.
I found the stainless mug in the automotive section of Target. I didn't know anything about it. Never heard of it. Never saw it before. I liked the shape and the height, so I decided to buy it. I like to keep my coffee mug clean and I liked that this one has a really wide mouth so I can clean it pretty easily. The cup I was using before was also 16 ounces, but it is tall and narrow inside, so it was a pain to clean. There was no paperwork with it, so I didn't really know the purpose of the black disk on the bottom. It didn't seem like a suction cup, but I figured it was nice and wide so that would be helpful. Plus, I didn't realize that it wasn't snapped together correctly so it was a little wobbly. I didn't notice that until first the first time I used it.I use the Hamilton Beach The Scoop to make coffee. It has a convertible coffee mug grille so you can use either a 8 ounce or 16 ounce cup. Well, this cup is too short for the 16 ounce setting and too tall for the 8 ounce setting. I had to put a couple of plastic thumb tack boxes under the cup to raise it up high enough for The Scoop. Without the extra height the cup is way too low and coffee splatters onto the machine and table top quite a bit. Adding the spacers was not a big deal, after I figured out how high up I needed to raise it. After that first cup of coffee I figured out how to snap the bottom back on solidly which was a big relief. That stopped the wobble and then the cup seemed to stick to the table top a bit. At this point I decided to look up the Mighty Mug and found their site. That's when I learned that it isn't supposed to be easily knocked over. Cool. The next day I tried it with coffee in it and I was really surprised and happy that it is so steady. It can be knocked over if it gets bumped hard enough, but casual and light bumps don't seem to bother it. Whereas the same casual and light bumps would have another mug dumping coffee all over the desk. Nice feature. However, at the end of the second cup of coffee I washed the cup. (Yes I washed it after the first cup, I just didn't notice a problem then.) And as I did I saw brown coffee washing out of it. How could that be? I drank all the coffee so there should be none to show up at this point. Where did the coffee come from? So I held it up to my ear and shook it and low and behold I could hear liquid inside of it! I took it apart thinking that the space between the inner cup and the outer shell had coffee in it, but there was none. That left me with the inner black part, which has the inner stainless part inside of it. I shook that and I could hear the coffee in there, between the metal and the plastic. I was able to turn the cup upside down on a paper towel and saw brown coffee leak out onto the paper towel. Really slowly. So apparently the metal cup I got has some sort of small leak that allow coffee to seep inbetween two parts and made it impossible to truly clean the cup. I left a message on the company website but when I got no response I also left a message on the company Facebook page. No response to that either. So I took the cup back to Target. Since it didn't have any of the paperwork that comes with these cups, I had to go get another one in order to return it. They didn't have one in the Automotive section, which makes sense because it doesn't fit in a car cup holder. Apparently the one I found there was put there incorrectly. I did find a display of them in the Kitchen stuff area. Since I was not too sure about the metal ones, I decided on a plastic mug. Got the green one. It was a few dollars cheaper so that was nice. But what I really like is that the inner black cup part is solid! No place coffee or water could possibly leak in! Yayyy! I give the plastic one 5 stars, but I can only give the steel one 2 stars because of the problem with coffee getting into someplace it shouldn't.

Should be called "Magic Mug"!
I promise you will spend the first 5 minutes playing with this cup, trying to knock it over. And yet, you can pick it straight up with ease. I bought this to keep my dog from knocking over my coffee with his long, happy tail. (Yes, there are stories here) I love it! The mouth opening is bigger than most lidded cups, which I like, but I read a couple of reviews that this causes spills when getting to the bottom of your cup of coffee. This just takes a little time to get used to after all those stingy pinholes in the other mugs. If you know it can happen, you can be ready for it.A few suggestions:Read the instruction page. You have to pull downward on all sides of the suction bottom to "activate" the cup so it can do its magic. I also REACTIVATE it after I wash it. I just put my fingertips around the edges of the suction cup material and flip it downward a couple of times.Make sure the place you set it is free of dust, and crumbs, etc.The leaflet says the inner part is dishwasher safe, but doesn't tell you how it comes apart. Here's how: On the bottom of the cup in the middle of the suction cup there are 4 prongs. Squeeze the smaller 2 together and push downward, into the cup. I used needlenose pliers the first time, but then I got the hang of it.I take the cup apart even if I handwash it. Water tends to get between the outer and inner cup and doesn't dry. After you wash it, dry the top of the suction bottom where it touches the cup. No big deal, you might just get water droplets on you if you don't.I like the larger size of the drinking opening, and I like the style of the lid. The lid doesn't really seal, but does stay nicely on the cup to keep your drink hot or cold. If I need to put more creamer in my coffee, I can easily remove the lid without spilling hot coffee on myself. To conclude, I love the cup and would recommend it to anyone with happy dogs, or rambunctious kids, and even those people that just want a cup that stays where you put it.

I am very disappointed. Does not keep my coffee hot
wish I would have read reviews before purchasing. I am very disappointed. Does not keep my coffee hot. Have had the mug about a month & it no longer is "non-spillable". Not worth the money.

Worst product and Company
the mug worked half way (sometime sticks and sometimes doesn't) for one week. Now it is just a big plastic cup that takes space and serves no purpose. the company is just as bad: they have a website and no real way to contact them; so you are up to creek if you have on of these worthless cups. When a company gives a warranty and no way to realize it, the company is worth less than its products.DO NOT SUPPORT THE KIND OF COMPANY THAT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS!

If you like the idea of drinking old mystery liquid
Try this. Use this mug, wash, dry it. Then, hold it up to your ear and shake the inner portion. If your mug was like the first one I had (AND the replacement they sent me?) you will hear coffee or water or whatever shaking around in there. Because it seeps between the walls of the plastic liner and the steel wall. Just gross. I don't care if it doesn't tip over? I would NEVER drink out of something I couldn't keep clean. I notice they have a new design out. Wonder if that's why.

I have the tumbler size and love it. It holds a full bottle of water
I have had my mighty mug for about months and have not had a problem with it. I have the tumbler size and love it. It holds a full bottle of water. I do have to wash the suction cup often because it does loose it sticking ability however, that's part of cleaning it though. It has never leaked, inside or out. I have even dropped it twice and it's still working. I don't put mine in the dishwasher but wash it by hand and let it air dry over night. I love it and would recommend it over and over.
