Perfection!
After years on Atlas Elektra snowshoes, I decided to go local and Crescent Moon makes their magnificent snowshoes in my hometown, Boulder, Colorado. I absolutely adore these shoes. I had no idea what I'd been missing! The heel lifts are a game changer. They make me feel like I'm hiking in the summer in my hiking shoes, not on top of deep snow. Hills are a breeze in these shoes! The impressive bindings are ultra comfortable. I had no problem with my foot moving around or wear and tear (read nasty blisters) on my heels. The crampons provide excellent traction. The poles are amazing! I had previously used a twist and lock pair that eventually became a menace with one pole that would continually unlock and slide down to a foot while I was trekking through deep snow. Having to stop to adjust it constantly or pack dirt (or gum) into the twist and lock area was frustrating. The flip-lock is genius. I can't recommend these shoes enough!

Cresent Moon - Great Snow Shoe
For all you outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy stepping out of the ski-line crowds or appreciate the quiet surroundings of a winter landscape, this “footwear” will take you to new paths of appreciation. Extremely easy to get into and out of, Crescent Moon’s Gold 9 show shoe is becoming my sole source of winter recreation. The Gold 9 is light enough to do some steep pitches with its articulated heel, and it’s wide enough to step through flat or rolling terrain when your traversing open meadows. I typically haven’t “shoed” with poles, but found them to help balance and a little buoyancy. Although I’m not necessarily snowshoeing as a fitness vehicle, I find that the combination of trekking and poling is a pretty good workout. There just is no comparison, Crescent Moon makes the most comfortable, lightest feeling, durable snowshoes in the world. On top of that, they are fully made in the USA by hand...so I always feel good buying from them.
