PenPower STP2TL01EN Worldictionary USB – Multilingual dictionary pen (Win/Mac)

I came across PenPower from a friend’s recommendation and decided to give it a try since it’s cheap. I can honestly say that it’s a game changer and it’s made learning so much easier and less distracting! The design of the pen is intuitive and makes me feel like I’m holding a highlighter. Learning to scan a word is also really easy (took me a minute to figure it out without reading the manual). Just connect the pen to your laptop and download the software from the app store and voila! Looking up new words when I’m reading is so much easier now because I don’t have to type and look up the word on my laptop of phone. The pen’s camera will pickup the word directly above it when you press down on the pen and you’ll see the translation immediately on your laptop along with its different grammatical forms. I honestly wish I had discovered a product like this much earlier in my life…

The media could not be loaded.  I am really surprised that there has not been a review for this. Honestly I wasn't sure if this product would actually work as it's advertised at first, but it is quite impressive as it really helps me to get through my daily reading much faster. I am a young professional whose first language is in Chinese but am required to read a lot reading in English.Pros:1. The recognition is very good, about 90% accuracy. It would occasionally miss the vocabulary, but when that happens it gives enough feedback on how the recognition failed. From there I would be able to figure out how to better capture the image the second time. The overall user experience is excellent.2. The translation of the default dictionary is good. Users can purchase other dictionaries. I didn't think it was needed.2. Easy to setup. All I had to do is to download the app from Mac App store. There was no installation requiredCons:The only complain I have is the cord. It would be much better if it can be connected via bluetooth. But if you dont use it for a prolong period of time it should be okay. I use it for over an hour everyday. The cord sometimes makes turning the page difficult.

Given the complexities of recognition and then lexical interpretations, I made every effort to make this pen work. Those who need the recognition of Roman (Latin) scripts or Chinese may get satisfactory use. Japanese and Greek also seem to work reasonably. I don't know about Thai and Korean. But I bought it to recognize and interpret Arabic and Hindi, and for these languages it does not work almost at all.The pen is inaccurate in recognizing Arabic and Hindi and in the few recognized cases also in finding reasonable interpretations. The source used is 'google', but clearly not google translate, that renders these reasonably.The pen has complexities that are not explained in the manual. If you start the program and accidentally remove the pen from the USB, the pen can only restart if you uninstall and reinstall the program. Also it is unclear whether the pen must be trained in just one script or in multiples, given someone's uses. Because of the inaccurate results I tried many ways, but did not get better recognition with Arabic and Hindi. By the way, to get the pen camera to work, the camera of the laptop (windows 10) must be on.The vendor was responsive and tried to answer repeatedly. But they are Chinese, and they really did not know what to do about Arabic. So ultimately they stopped. Regrettably, I initiated a return of the item.

It is a great product for study, very easy to use, and can scan words then translate immediately!! Highly recommend for learning other languages.

I use this dictionary pen for reading a book. It's getting hot quick. and it is not easy to tap on wright word.

No information about how to use it do I need to download.any software and on which equipment does this work on

I rated this item 5 star. It is not perfect product, but good enough for my purpose. I use it for my SONY e-book which doesn't have dictionary.Though $59.99 is not cheap since the pen basically is just a small camera, but other products are selling over $100 or $200. It is a bad idea to include a dictionary in a pen. This product depends on its software so it can handle multiple languages.Something could be improved is that you have to connect the pen to a computer using a USB cable. It would be better if it uses Bluetooth. Certainly that will increase the cost of this pen.

I don't know why it gets all 5-star reviews. I just set up this pen and it got so hot that I don't want to hold it. When I was capturing the words, a window pop out to ask for my permission for an app to do modification on my computer, but its certificate is expired. It was also very difficult to capture the words correctly. I really hope this could work, but I have to return it unfortunately.

Did not work as expected. Only worked properly about 1/3 of time. Returned it
