What a real shame as I initially loved these but within 12 days they have started to melt.
I ordered up two sets of these New World, Genuine Gas Hob Oven Cooker Control Knobs, to replace the existing ones on our New World Classic 100 eight burner, double oven and grill. I have attached a picture showing how great they first looked and how pleased we both were with them. The knobs were ordered up on 20 Aug and fitted on 24 Aug. They fitted really easily without any modifications as the knobs including the plastic peg on the back were literally identical to my existing knobs we had used from new for over twenty years.On 4th September we cooked a whole chicken in our oven and only opened the oven door twice to turn the chicken and then to remove it once cooked. When the oven knob was turned back to off afterwards, the chrome knob end had started to change shape and melt! I cannot tell you how disappointed we were to see this. The advert states genuine New World Knobs but they are unfortunately not up to the task of being used as they are. The only way to stop the knobs melting would be to remove them from your cooker before you open the oven door as the heat from the oven will melt and distort them. When we first fitted as our picture we were delighted but this delight has turned to real sadness and anger as the two sets cost us nearly £50. I have sent an e-mail to the company that supplied them via Amazon UK stating what has happened. As yet I have heard nothing back. I can only say I would not buy them again as they are not fit for purpose!!!!! If you want something to just look nice then buy them. However if you want to use them like we did then think seriously again.
