This kit is very cute and it arrived on time and with all the pieces included. It comes with real needles, just in case anyone is wondering that. It comes with several, so a couple of people can work on this project at the same time with what is included. However, if you're doing this with younger kids I don't recommend letting them use the real needle - just get some plastic ones. Since the holes are pre-made on the outside of these stuffies, the plastic needle will work great. I assisted and sewed the beads on and the eyelashes (for the unicorns) with a real needle and then let the kids do the rest with the plastic needle. 6 year old used the plastic needle - 12 year old used the real needle. The other thing I will say, that with the real needle it is a lot easier to "miss" the holes since it will puncture through felt just fine - so again, almost better to use a plastic needle if you have kids that want it to look "exactly" like the photo - also the directions for the unicorn are wrong (but you notice it if you're looking at the photos)... it says something about putting the mane and tail pieces on (on both sides) but there is only 1 mane and 1 tail piece, not 2 like there is for everything else. Yet - the photo only shows one anyway! So just be aware of that. I highly recommend this project - but you will need someone older to assist. Well worth it and it made 2 kids very happy!

Love all the pieces are there and there's ample stuffing and thread. But instructions on how to use thread (splitting it) is confusing to understand and hard to do. Instructions on how to make unicorn eyelashes is also not clear. Tubes of glue are hard to unseal; better to use your own glue. Finally, I just did my own thing to show my child.

The set is nicely packaged and my 6 year old daughter quickly colored the inside of the box with enthusiasm to get started. Unfortunately though this set is best for an older child, maybe 8 or older. The needles are metal and though not very sharp, I would have preferred plastic. The felt is much too thin so the pre-punched holes are easily bypassed. The set also came with pins. Pins?! A 6 year old is definitely not ready to sew with a pinned product, unless maybe it is a 6 year old with exceptional fine motor skills. I found another set on here with much thicker felt, larger pieces to work with, and plastic needles for less money that is much better suited to a 6 year old. That set I gave to the twin bro because it is space people (space explorer set). If you are not trying to find equal gifts for twins, I would highly recommend that other set for either a girl or boy.

Bought for my son that was interested in learning to sew, this kit was perfect however the holes were not all the way punched out and punching them out was frustrating. The felt was also thin so if you fill them too much, it stretches and tears.

This is such a cute set! My five year old and I have had so much fun doing these together! She can do a lot of it but definitely requires help. The only thing I did not like was the thread, it was hard to pull apart the thread from the large bundle without tangling. I ended up using thread spindles I already had. Other than that packaging and product are adorable and I would very much recommend!

My daughter has been begging me to teach her to sew. I decided to gift this for her 5th birthday. The age is geared towards 7 and up, but I decided to get it any ways. She's done the white unicorn and it seemed to go well. She did need assistance with holding the material and all, but in the end it turned out good, in my opinion. It took her a little longer than expected, but it's understandable. So if you're on the fence on the age I think as long as there's assistance to help guide the child it'll work out. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of it. I think the kit has a great concept for sewing and the theme is perfect for her. She's excited to do another.

Ready to use and easy for my 8 year old to sew! The glue that was supposed to hold on the eyes was busted in the packaging and the other white glue didn't work well to hold on the eyes/details. We successfully contacted the company for replacement glue. Otherwise it's a fantastic product.

I love love love this kids sewing set! I bought it as a gift for my eight year old niece and she had so much fun putting it together with me. That being said, I did only rate it four stars. My reasoning is this, you have to be a pretty experienced crafter and use some of your own supplies to finish these. There simply was not enough glue and some of the sewing techniques necessary for the unicorns were not for a beginner. However, if the adult supervising these crafts knows how to sew and has some extra tacky glue around the house, these are great kits!
